On the day I celebrate 10 years since I left a corporate life to embrace the life of my dreams, I visit the largest butterfly sanctuary in the world!
256,000 hectares of fertile and humid land are home to more than 4 billion butterflies every year after a long journey of more than 4,000 km from southern Canada to this forest.
From mid-November to mid-March these brave and courageous butterflies migrate in Mexico.
Then they return to their country of origin flying again 4,000 kms.
It is a wonder of nature and it is no wonder that it was designated a Natural Heritage of Humanity by Unesco.
It was a huge emotion to be surrounded by so many beautiful butterflies, to learn about them, and to realize that what I always believed is also the belief of the Mexicans. Butterfly are souls of our loved ones.
This was the first of many stops that we have planned for the next few days.
A month before leaving Mexico, we are going to visit different places and see how Christmas is celebrated in different states of this wonderful country.
