Santa Cruz was not a one season wonder. Although never as prolific as his 07-08 season for Bayern or any other club in Europe, he still managed to make over 200 appearances and score more than 50 goals for the Bavarians. During his 8 season spell at Bayern he won 13 trophies including 5 Bundesliga titles and a Champions League title. Couple that with him being the record goal scorer with 32 goals for Paraguay and being their most capped player earning 112 caps. And his time at Olimpia has been solid. Hardly a one season wonder.

Biggest one season wonder in Brazilian football that I remember was Hernane. He went from 4th division side Mogi Mirim to Flamengo (top flight and one of the biggest clubs in Brazil) in 2012. In 2013 he simply scored 36 goals in 58 matches and helped his (at the time) financially troubled club to clinch the Brazilian Cup in a surprising campaign. He had other seasons with a good number of goals after that, but only for teams that were in 2nd division (Sport and Bahia). Now he's 36-yo and playing for non-league side Lemense He gained the nickname of 'Brocador' (something like 'The Driller') and the media discussed if he should be called up to the Brazilian National team, but he wasn't)

To keep Ronaldo with his fat wage they had to scrap costs left and right, sell promising prospects, exchange players (often with loss of quality), and look for opportunities like the brillant Ramsey, Rabiot, Cuadrado and Morata. But Coco for Seedorf is different. I still remeber that season of Serie A. Remember that Milan derby that went terribly wrong for Inter? 6-0. Seedorf more than any other player was booed that game, I even remember that orange that fell on his head at the corner kick. Seedorf didn't like that season with the nerazzurri. Inter really thought they were making a good exchange. That my friend as we all know today was a great misjudgement.

I remember Coco at Inter. He's actually gooa attacking wingback BUT his fitness level killed off his chances for a comeback. Playing close to 4 season at Inter proof that he has what it takes at the top level. If only he has the medical team of present day Inter have he might stood a chance.

You've got to wonder about guys who come from no where and tear it up for one season then fall apart. Like they were taking something banned before they arrived in the Prem and then couldn't keep doing that once they started getting tested regularly and their performances dropped off as a result.

Pretty unfair to use Teemu Pukki as an example of a striker who excels in the Champ but struggles in the PL. His team struggles in the top flight, but he's still got into double figures in both his seasons in the Prem.
