Once a Minnesota sports team wins a chip, and the media execs realize its the 11th largest market in the US - with all of the ratings and money that comes with it (I say this because they cant shut up about smaller markets that they cant stop locking their knobs in comparison) - the tune will change. Last time Minnesota won anything was 1991. They havent even been IN a championship since.

Perfect example of how the mainstream sports media is so lazy on their takes. They do virtually no research and they cling, desperately, to their legacy teams and stars. They know so little of the Wolves. The Suns are names, not a team. Coaching and teamwork are very important. The Suns haven't shot well because the Wolves have the #1 defense in the NBA.

Fun fact: In these playoffs, Rudy had made 10-14 shots, 14 FGA makes him 7th scoring option on the team. 6 guys got more FGA than Rudy and Rudy still has 3rds most total points on the team with 32 in 2 games. Jaden McDaniels has 34 points in 2 games 24 FGA which is 2 more points than Rudy with 10 more shots. Make it make sense. 😂

@@user-yg9yf1ke9h The irony is that people talk about Beal like he is part of something that could be referred to as a "big three". KAT is better than Beal and basically everything, even the things Beal is best at. KAT scores more than Beal. KAT has a better FG percentage. KAT has a better 3pt percentage. KAT gets to the free throw line more often AND shoots a higher percentage. KAT also averages just under 11 rebounds a game for his career. (this is somewhat positional, but it speaks to how valuable Towns actually is) Beal does get a few more assists and KAT more blocks, but that is just more positional stuff. Bottom line, with the exception of KAT's rookie year, there really has not been a single second in which Beal has been the better basketball player. Beal had two above average scoring seasons in Washington, but he was also the primary scoring option taking 5-6 more shots per night than KAT was. There is not a single GM of a winning team that would take Beal over KAT right now. Not one.

The wolves are good and should get credit for how they play ,great defensively and aggressive playmakers. Too much is made of the Suns so called "big 3" and it looks good on paper, but in reality.... too much redundancy skillset-wise between those 3 and none of them are true 2-way players. Other than Royce O'neal, the bench players are one way players too - just too much redundancy on that roster, not very physically imposing. Then the Wolves with their size and athleticism, the best defensive team in the league putting the clamps on them.

James Jones.... dude! The regular season means squat. It's the playoffs bro! A team has days to exclusively practice and prepare for you. Nobody in this panel takes into account that the Wolves were consistently one of the highest defensively rated teams in the league. McDaniels, NAW, Ant - find me a better trio of perimeter defenders than that with Gobert protecting the paint. Heck! we saw on several occassions Gobert getting switched to Durant and holding his own well on the perimeter.

Funny thing about this segment is that they say the BIG 3 wave started when Bron teamed up with Wade & Bosh in MIA. Ppl forget that Bron did that AFTER not being able to get past BOS BIG 3 of Pierce/KG/Allen. BOS started the BIG 3 wave after winning a ring in the FIRST yr of their Big 3 forming after having the worst record in the league just the previous year. Yeah, they only won 1 ring together but they went to back-to-back Finals. MIA went to the Finals their first year together & lost but then won back-to-back rings. But Bron took his talents to South Beach cuz he couldn't get past BOS BIG 3 in the playoffs.

Also to Joy's point, the Celtics' Big 3 and the Heat Big 3 had much better all-around teams than the Suns do currently. LeBron was playing off ball a lot more in Miami and not just running point all the time. The Celtics and Heat had a lot of ball movement, not just iso play.

I mean KAT dropped 50 in the Allstar game and had a 60+ point game during the regular season. He is a hooper and Rudy is defensive player of the year, check his stats he's putting in work. Jaden McDaniels is no slouch and it is getting to a point where he is no longer going to be considered an "other". Mike is one of the most underrated floor generals in the league. It is not KD, Book and Beal only against Ant. Those dudes in Minnesota are talented and play defense, starters and players off the bench. It is constant ball pressure for 48 minutes and they are physical. KD, Book and Beal aren't being allowed to get comfortable. I love Book, I love KD and Beal and have been cheering for the suns the last several seasons though the Lakers are my team. It ain't looking good for us by the way but for real give them boys in Minnesota their credit already! They are scary good and it's looking like Denver is the only team standing in their way and yes I know it's only two games but if you play defense, you play defense and defense wins championships. If the Suns don't win game 3 it is over.

The playoffs are about matchups. The Wolves are a bad matchup for 2 teams : the Suns and the Nuggets bc the Wolves got size at the rim with Gobert and KAT and on the perimeter with McDaniels, Alexander and Ant. Suns might get swept. They don’t play defense, they don’t have a PG to set their offense and get them easy looks and they don’t have a bench that the coach trusts.

Phoenix had a great team with tremendous good chemistry in 21', with the point God and it didn't end well. They even had freaking Ayton playing great. Game three and I want to see the Suns perform their best which is capable of beating the Wolves.

Really you need both, but you're not gonna win without depth and a well built team with structure and clear roles. Why is it a shock that Phoenix is struggle when a 1/3 of the big 3s has been in and out of the lineup all season you can't build continuity like that and plus Minnesota is bigger, tougher, and a good defensive team

How is it that Beal gets praise as an elite bucket getter, when usually players like him just get accused of putting up points on a bad team? When this signing happened, I dont remember hearing any doubts on whether or not he would contribute, it was just automatically assumed Phoenix got a big three now

Why can't we just admit that the way they judge players is also flawed. What makes them the "big" three in the first place? For some reason it was just decided that being a "big time" player meant you were a 1-3 pure scorer who primarily takes jump shots. It's nonsense. And the KAT disrespect is hilarious. They are talking about Beal like he isn't CLEARLY worse than KAT. KAT is even better at all of the things that Beal gets credit for. They both average 34 minutes for their career, and KAT scores more, has a better FG%, has a better 3pt%, and also averages just shy of 11 rebounds per game. KAT is even better on the line than Beal is... and he is 7ft tall. There isn't a single GM in the entire NBA that takes Beal over KAT right now, or really at any point in time. The only thing "big" about Beal is the over-hype.

Speak doesn't need 3 football folks breaking down the NBA. U need someone who can look at the x's and o's and figure out what is really goin on. At least bring in a guest host (old NBA player ) for the playoffs or keep Ric Bucher on for the next 2months.

They talk too much about the Suns but they didn’t give much effort or time to talk about the key contributors of the Wolves like Coach Finch, NAW, Naz. The reasons why KD, Book and Beal are not performing well because of the Wolves defense. Wolves even didn’t bother double teaming against the big 3. That’s how good their defense is, the TWolves played one on one against the best offensive players in the NBA.

The the problem with big threes is if you are all specialized to do the same thing. If you all are just scores and that's it then there's an issue. There is a reason why Michael Jordan went to get rodman who specialize in getting boards at playing defense. You don't need a big three. You need players who can help and support in all areas of the game.

One team has 3 players that are basically the same type of player 2 SG and a taller SG One team has no PG and no bench One team plays no defense (allowing multiple layups all series) And yet we expect them to win cause they have 3 stars? Yeah nah it’s a TEAM Sport. Suns might win one game at best and that’s it!

No one’s talking about the “what if” Suns wouldn’t have essentially blown it up after losing in the finals in 21’. That team had everything needed to contend for a championship and they blew up all of their depth and draft picks to grab KD and haven’t been the same since.
