It works!!! THANK YOU Mark! I went to the range to try. After two session my driver speed jumped from 100 to 105 while keeping a good smash factor and without hurting my back. Incredible. I have been training with a small radar (approach G80) since 2019 and take regular lesson with a pro. It took me years to go from 95 to 100. Off course as a golf addict I have tried many KZfaq tips to improve my speed and consistency. I never fully understood how to use the ground until I saw Mark jumping out his shoes and understanding the timing of it. To gain 5MPH in 2 range sessions…incroyable. Merci Mark.

Mark, this video was amazing. It just shows us how much earlier we have to move and that our conscious mind can materially hinder our movements. LIke yiu said, we all need to get to using our subsconsious mind onkly in the golf swing and let our conscious mind concentrate on course management and putts.

Love this. Great content. Can you explain how increasing the vertical forces can help the strike? I can see how it would help CHS, but I would have thought that since you were adding another variable (vertical distance changes to/from ball), strike consistency would decrease. How does it help consistency of strike? Thanks!

In general, what have you observed in student lessons regarding accuracy in hitting the sweet spot? Thanks again for a very informative lesson!

It's so interesting how much emphasis on power there is now in golf. Since strokes gained measurement became mainstream, we now understand how much of an advantage distance is in the game. Instead of modern teachers saying "slow the swing down to hit the ball square", now it's, "train your body to make movements that will create power, and you will score better anyway". Great lesson and explanation by the way, Mark!

I remember my tennis instructors would say the same thing. Slow your serve down and "get it in". Ignored them and just went for more and more power. Ironically the harder you swing the more it goes in due to the increased topspin!

I have been after you in some aid videos. But this video moved me crazy. I was fighting to keep 100mph driver swing with typical 145/146 ball speed. But now with this going down and jumping up I easily hit 102 and 150+ ball speed. What is best is that I actually not even use much effort that I typical did with very much sliding . I still need to learn the feel and rythm of the ground as my timing is a bit off sometimes, as I never used it. I guess with more practise 105 will be makable After one hour my issue is that I sometimes jumps a bit back instead rotating forward - but that is. because it feels so crazy still. And also the feel that I actually start to go down very early in the backswing. Crazy, to jump up in the downswing. can´t wait to try again

And adresses exactly my "problem": I am quite strong and especially fast in all sports but I cannot get more speed in a 7 iron than 83 an no more than 98 in the driver. But tell me a drill I can perform to get to this motion in my normal swing. Without a proper drill I will not be able to incorporate this in my swing. Where are you located? I am from Germany. Thanks, Karsten

To echo what others have said, one of your best videos to date Mark. It shows what benefits modern date capture can bring to understanding where power is generated. Mark, one question I have, some instructors suggest you should try to generate maximum swing/hand speed by accelerating through the ball to feel as though maximum speed is generated post impact. unless I'm mistaken, I think you/the instructor were trying to get maximum speed by arms parallel. I'm interested to hear your take on this? thanks.

Would it be correct to summarize as follows: to get peak speed of body movements at the right time he needed to feel like at left arm parallel back he starts pressuring the body down into the legs (maybe start feeling like he was pulling the grip down around the same time), and then at left arm parallel down he needed to feel like like he was taking that compressed spring pressure and push back up with it?

Can you clarify? 😩

Go and get a tennis ball, hold it over your head as if you’re going to throw it as hard into the ground as you can( to make it bounce high). Do your legs move ? They should bend, you get lower, before you throw the ball your legs will start to get straighter. I think this is the ground force they’re talking about.

This is facscinating. If you look at the graphic at 2:01 would you conclude that his hand speed peaks too late, or that he throws away his wrist angles too early? Because it looks like the hands are practically at the same height as for the tour player, even though the club is much further away from the ball.
