Best ever day in Jersey?? Definitely in the conversation. One claim we are totally comfortable throwing around was definitely the biggest surf I’ve ever seen here. Some of the heaviest too. While there definitely saw empty waves as big and perfect as you can ask for at a beach break it was definitely a challenge with the size of the waves, the outgoing tide all day and the 14 sec period. None the less, having the rare opportunity to experience energy like that so close to home made for a really memorable day. Stoked to get after with a good crew of young east coast chargers!

Huge PROPS to all you NJ chargers that went out in this swell ! Holding it down ! Charging in 5 mil suits , booties & gloves in a MASSIVE shore break where there is rarely a safe exit . I hope you all made it out without injury . And nice camera work as always 🤙🏽

@@matthewcarmody7711 The waves break closer to shore than most west coast spots, so it’s mainly a matter of finding a good rip and timing it right. Most east coast spots between NJ and OBX are glorified shorebreak. I can’t speak for this one in particular. But this is why you see lots of barrels and maybe 1/5 the surfer actually makes it.

No, I have spent years on both coasts and that’s Northern California every winter. It’s just not that many people charge it. I always wonder why there isn’t film of the places that do actually that size regularly during winter. Hell I have scene shore break 30+ easy and no camera man but some serious chargers and a beach full of people watching. I guess people just want to keep there spots unknown. There are already too many surfers out in California.
