Thanks for the look JB. I Love me some Roughies. I like that Rough Ryder listens to us vocal minority that loves carbon steel. The half Hawk single blade is a wish come true. I haven't finished trying to get most of the yellow classic carbon, & now I must get the Carbon 2 series.

I almost missed this, no notification again. With this series RR have done two things I have been hoping and waiting for; making more half hawks in different covers and classic carbon in something better than the old yellow compo. All three of those look good and I am going to have a look for the stockman too. Thanks for showing these.

I hear ya, started collecting traditional knives past few years and was all over a couple patterns. Now that the honeymoon phase is over I am really liking more and more patters....ahh, like all of them now, some more then others.

I bought the Half Hawk. I did a forced patina with mustard and I filed down the bottom of the tang so the blade would set lower in the handle when closed. Looks much better now. I love Rough Ryders. The micarta is nice and rough on this line.

Rough Ryder knives are such an incredible value. The Carbon Series looks like another great looking series. I personally like single and two/double bladed traditionals the most. That Bow Trapper and that Half Hawk look really sweet! Great video once again JB! Have a great night/day!

Just received the half hawk, it was very dirty, greasy, ll over the blade, and polish cream all over the bolsters, and the blade was scratched. I think it was a return and was accidently placed in the for sale bin and not the clean up bin. I sent a note to SMKW. Just wanted to let them know we were buying knives for our trap team event, and wanted them to take a look at the knives before shipping. Told them I did not want a replacement, wasn't worth the time or expense to reship a $16 knife. SMKW sent me out a new one for free, did not even request the old one back. I did not expect this, and frankly am stunned at the GREAT SERVICE SMKW provides. I have one of the more expensive Victorinox collection on the West coast, and am buying R/R just for fun. These are inexpensive and great for gifts for trap events, and the like.

This series really excites me! I didn’t realize the Half Hawk was a single blade in this series. My RR Half Hawk has a secondary pen blade too. I think I might like the single blade better. I hope they do more classic carbon stuff going forward.

I might also get the half hawk. I was going to pass until I saw it is just one blade. Th earlier ones had a secondary spear blade. I have the swayback in the mail. My first one had minor issue. I like the small moose but I'd like to see alternatives to the moose blade. I'd love that one with a caplifter or a pair of scissors. Thanks for the shout out for the review. I prefer the Bow Trapper with just one blade.

I definitely want to get the half hawk in this series and probably the Barlow too. I just got into Rough Ryder knives this year, and so far I really like them. The only one that kinda bummed me out was the backwoods bushcrafter double lock back, on the website it said that the blades were 2.75” and when I got it they were actually about 2” each. The whole knife closed is just about 3 1/4”, but still a beautiful little knife. I have a few Buck knives that I collect, and carry, they are probably my favorites. I really like the bigger lock backs, the 112 is my edc along with the 703 colt stockman. But anyway thanks for the video. Have a good one

Received the Sowbelly Lockback Denim Micarta recently and I love it. This T10 carbon blade is really good, the patina comes fast and easy. The finish is good, mainly at this price point, great to enjoy lockback mecanism. I also have a VG10 slipjoint from RR, nothing to complain about : very good value for its price. RR seems to be a good brand to me.

I got the Scout and Canoe yesterday. (I'd already ordered the Scout when Tobias' video dropped.) Fantastic feel to both knives, and nicely sharpened right out of the box. The can opener on the Scout catches the brass liner just a tiny bit on closing. I don't know that it's worth contacting SMKW about, as it's a very minor flaw. Great knives.

Just got the Half Hawk, costs a bit more over here in the UK (£21) but it's the best RR I've got so far, fit and finish is as close to perfect as I've ever had from them! Thanks for the video, helped me decide which one to go for.

It's a great series! They really look amazing, i love my carbon steel knives and with micarta handles they are super. Imagine if they decided to do the series in red micarta with black liners! It would be the classic Big Red series! SMKW should think about this, i think it would create a run on them. Thank you for the review JB.

I have about 50 Rough Rider and other SMKW house brand knives. Odd one has side rub but that doesn't bother me at all. No big spaces in the back springs so far. Mostly I got the brown stagbone series. 3 more on the way, white bone. The rare imperfections show it's handmade which for me is nicer than a five times more expensive CNC machine made knife. Only one had a weak back spring. Little works of art.

This series is very good. I purchased all my favorite patterns in the T10 carbon steel. I am waiting for a special edition with upgraded steels with way more edge retention. I use my blades and actually sharpen them down to ice picks too soon. Good thing they're cheap so I just buy a new one. Be well.

Good-looking series! The yellow is classic, I know, but that black micarta is dangerously handsome. Bow trapper and swayback for me, please. I have 15 or 20 RRs, new and old models, and they make me leave my modern folders on the shelf.

Those are super slick !! The half hawk is my favorite out of them . My only wish would be that if they would put smooth bolsters on then . Not a huge fan of the slant r .. Definitely not a deal breaker though .. thanks for the video !! Take care JB .

RR really seems to have found that sweet spot combining decent materials, good fit&finish and very affordable prices and they churn them out at an amazing pace lol... In a way I'm glad I decided not to start collecting RR, there's no way to keep up lol! Thanks for sharing!

I just got the small Moose and the Half Hawk , I like how the Micarta has a slight texture feel and the Hawk had a single blade, which I like better then the double blade , I'm not sure but I think the hawk is the first time I seen a single bladed version of their Carbon 2 . Thanks for sharing ✌

Overall I like Rough Rider knives. For the money hard to beat. Want to try some more patterns. I like the large Moose wish instead of a Spey blade it had a wharncliff or sheepsfoot but oh well. Need to try a trapper. Wish I had the Patriot line but just not feasible with the things going on. Would have been nice for the 4th. The one issue I had with a Rough Rider I called SMKW and it was fixed that easy. Thanks for showing these they look really nice.

Another lovely set of knives there. I recently got the bow trapper in carbon+G10 (black with red liners). Not quite sure on the handle shape but it’s growing on me. I was looking for a nice large (tall) blade that’s slipjoint and UK legal. I’m hoping Rough Rider have an option for that in a straight handle with one knife somewhere….maybe the Copperhead?

@@BigRedEDC I just picked up a Boker Barlow, unfortunately the blade is minute, both in height and blade thickness. I’m hoping for something with a 3 inch cutting edge and a blade height similar to the one on the bow trapper, or as close to it as I can find, with a straight handle. I see some nice Daddy Barlows but they’re not easy to find over here.

The moose supposed to have a gap, every moose has a gap, take notice they use no liner on the moose that’s why, pretty smart for a guy who has an IQ the same as room temperature
