What are the best bikepacking bags for folding bikes? Today we are testing out some new cycling bags by Vincita, a Thailand based cycling bag company.
One of my biggest complaints with bike touring by folding bike was not having a good place to hold my drink with easy access while riding. The Luna bottle bag can mount to any round tube on the bike (including stem, handlebar, etc), so now I can easily grab my water bottle while cycling.
Today we are doing a mini cycling tour in Thailand, cycling in Chiang Mai old city by folding bike.
On today's bike ride, we also stop for some snack breaks, including some fresh fruit juice and lunch for Thuong-chan.

I bought a folding bike after watching your other content and I'm using it every day for commuting and taking on the train in Korea (Korea is very bike and dog friendly).

Yay! A new video after 2 weeks! Great to see upgrades to the foldies! Switching from my Merida Reacto road bike and heavier 3Sixty foldie to a lightweight foldie as well. Love the bottle bags! Seems very useful! Might get one for myself as well.

@@TwoWheelCruise Oh, hope your computer issues get resolved! Love the vids! Great that you guys could use your road bikes on the roads. In Singapore, it's really hard to use road bikes on the road as drivers would barely give any space. Currently I don't use my road bike as often since there aren't many places to use it to it's full potential so opted for a lighter foldie as I'd be able to pack and go during this monsoon season w/ unpredictable rains.

9:49 Awesome VW Type 3 “Notchback” spotted. The only time I’ve ever seen one of those things in person was my buddy’s in the Philippines. Such a cool car even without an a/c in the tropical heat lol….definite headturner. Btw, I greatly appreciate what you guys share on your channels, hope you both reach the 100k milestone soon!

Nice quality bike packing bags. I like the Velcro straps, makes for easy install and removal. I have Fidlock bottles. They use a magnetic closure system and work like a charm. I think they have saddle bags and other stuff. They can be a bit expensive, but I haven't had a problem yet.

Those are good bags. The seat posts are really long, so ordinary saddle bags feel like they are wasting the space a bit. I have similar issues with holding water bottles on my Brompton - if I’m using a bag on the front carrier, then I can use one of the pockets on there, but otherwise I’m a bit stuck. I did mount a water bottle carrier on the top tube, but abandoned that after a water bottle came out as I went over a bump. I also settled on mounting a water bottle carrier on the stem of the handlebars, but it isn’t as good a design as those bags.

The seat post bag definitely makes good use of the real estate. And for the bottle mount, I agree this is the best option. Easy to grab while riding, which I couldn't do when I use a pocket in a normal front mounted bag.

Fyi, there's a Japanese snack shop (with vending machine!). Head south on Sirimanklajarn from Huay Kaew, there's a driveway just past the 7-11 on the left. You'll see it.

Love the outfit guys :D And the bikes too! They are still so nice. The bags are interesting, I guess they are aimed for the folding bikes? Interesting solution, not sure I like it yet, but it sure looks handy :) BTW, have you guys found jobs yet? I enjoyed this folding bike video, so sure would like to see even more! I enjoy the backpacking style with some sightseeing, and food on the way!

@@TwoWheelCruise I'm quite a bit older than you (67) and I have only seen one or two myself. I think North America was the only market they weren't exported to... they should be more common elsewhere around the world (except for the age factor - most of them will have been junked by now, or in museums, that's why I was excited to see it.). It is over 50 years old. Kudos to whoever is taking care of it.

Theung's English is coming on well. Bags can be a problem - either too big or too small or expensive. The hikes look okay. What are your thoughts on lights built into bikes? I never understood why it's not done on bikes.

Yes, the lock itself is very sturdy. Though the rotation part does rotate easily.

hmm...might be good for an essentials only overnight bag... mine don't have fenders/racks though, so I would be concerned if it rains... what's material of the Nova like?

It's not fully waterproof, but it should be fine if you wrap anything needing protection in a plastic bag. These bikes are really nice with the fenders and racks, never get wet :)

The VW 1600 at 09:51 min. is from 1962, so its 60 years old. If it's in good condition the owner should put it on the market in Europe or USA and make a load of money. You should watch out with those two Minions in the background while you were eating 😂😂😂

How easy to find tires and tubes for your folding bike in Thailand? Do they sell them and service your bike if you got flat tire?

I think it's more rare in regular shops, but you can probably buy online easily enough. We brought some extra with us when we moved here.

3:50 Be careful about overloading. The theory when overloaded, the plastic will break before the frame is damaged. Replacing the plastic with a metal bracket will allow you to add more weight but you risk damage to the frame if you overload the carrier. Brompton has the weight limit at 10kg [22lbs]… since Royale is a Brompton clone, I’m assuming the specs will be the same. I don’t think you need to switch back to a plastic carrier block, just try not to go over 10kg.

I'm the opposite, I used to never ride with gloves, but now we do for every ride. We might take them off for some longer hill climb rides though.

I feel like "Nacho Grande" would make a cool bike name. Always a little disappointed to see those plastic bag drink hangers, do they do anything else afterwards, open into a bag for rubbish or biodegradable etc?

If the world wakes up to how close we are to climate disaster and we take emergency action to restrict car and motorcycle use, and crop burning, Thailand will be almost perfect. Those two things are really holding it back. But even then, it remains to be seen how hot and humid it will get. That’s going to be a worry no matter what we do now.

@@TwoWheelCruise They’ll definitely be crucial, but we don’t have time to wait for ebikes to gradually replace cars. Governments have to step in to get rid of most cars soon. And that’s true with the way society works in general. We need huge changes so humans don’t totally destroy living conditions for ourselves. Basically people need to wake up fast.
