When it comes to changing tires/innertubes/flats the only advice i can give you is: take your time. Dont rush it, just accept its going to take some time and you will get dirty. Find a comfy spot if possible. Sit down and do a thorough job :)

Hi! A mate and I cycled home to Bournemouth from Italy last year, we had the best time, don’t stress too much about the equipment you can always play with the setup on route. I’m not sure what route you are taking but the east of France has some incredible cycling (particularly around Annecy) and the views in the Alps are worth the struggle 😅 Also I used Komoot for route planning and I couldn’t recommend it enough, it was really easy to plan and alter the route from my phone and send it to the garmin. I’ll be keeping up to date with the adventure 👏👏

The rhinowalk bags are really great value for money. After thousands of kms they hold up extremely well.

You may want to invest in a sleeping mat inflator? Saves you blowing the mat up yourself and seeing stars plus using your own breath you'll blowing in moisture which will go mouldy and show up as black spots on the inside of the mat. Your frame bag looks like it has fittings to allow to fit on the downtube meaning you can fit the bag towards the front freeing up space at the rear so you can more easily access the water bottle?? I have the Phoxx tent but have just changed to the OEX Bobcat as it has a vestibule allowing you to store all your stuff inside out of sight and the damp. When I use the Phoxx I have to bring all the stuff inside the tent with me - you already know it's snug inside! It's manageable but just something to be aware of.

What’s the brand of your bags called?

Get a flextail to inflate your mattress. I like the one that doubles as a tent light.

I’ll definitely check it out, because I don’t fancy blowing it up everyday after a days ride 😂😂 Thank you 🙏🏽

Set up looks great. Don't be surprised though if you decide to switch back to normal shoes, as the ones you bought look a lot more like road cycling shoes than MTB shoes, built for efficiency and not comfort. Bikepacking isn't about speed - see how they feel pushing the bike up a hilly trail after a few hours riding.
@Spen_grabthebullАй бұрын
Do you know any brands or shoes you would recommend for a decent price?
@vidiiaАй бұрын
@@Spen_grabthebull Nothing in particular, just any MTB shoes that look more like regular hiking shoes or trainers. They will still have the cleat, but it's hidden in the sole. It's important to have a shoe you can wear comfortably both on the bike and around your camp, on rest days or generally when you're not cycling.

@@Spen_grabthebull Nice vid. Just picked up some Five Ten XT Trails in the sales for £42 after switching to flat pedals. The neoprene cuff isn't quite fitted enough to keep all the grit out but it should help and they have a stiff sole . Suspect I'll end up using ordinary trail shoes for bikepacking/hike a bike :)

The bike will probably handle better with the heavier things in the seat pack (loading both wheels) _ rather than in the bar bag (loading mostly the front wheel).
