In 2006, Idom presented an architectural proposal for the new San Mamés stadium, home of Athletic Club, that delighted the client. In 2007, we were awarded the basic design and the construction design projects, after competing against a half a dozen or so important architecture and engineering firms.
The design in terms of comfort, security, and accessibility has resulted in the UEFA classifying the stadium as ELITE, the maximum rating and a requirement to host major football events such as the finals of national and international competitions.

Eintracht Frankfurt Fan here. San Mames is one of the 3 most beautiful stadiums in the world in my opinion. The architekture, the atmosphere with the red seats, the near to the pitch...just georgious!!!

El estadio San Mamés ha sido galardonado en los World Design Awards 2020, premios anuales concedidos por la prestigiosa entidad The Architecture Community. La Catedral ha conseguido la máxima distinción en la categoría de Instalaciones Deportivas y Recreativas, una de las 39 que componen estos galardones. El reconocimiento al estadio rojiblanco se une a los anteriormente logrados por el estadio: el logrado en 2015 en el World Architecture Festival de Singapur como mejor edificio deportivo del mundo de nueva construcción o su elección como mejor estadio de fútbol del mundo del año en los premios del World Football Summit 2017.

SPAIN is something that DOESN'T EXIST. It is an Aggregation of Reigns that always wanted to be independent, but Castella did not concede it. Catalonia, Pais Basco, Granada, Galicia... Study a bit of Iberian History and you will know what I am talking about. Fortunalety, Portugal kicked them out in time.

That arch was something special... such a shame for its demolition, Bilbao... the New Stadium is very modern, okay... what are you saying now when Wanda Metropolitano is miles better since 5 years already!? What are you saying in this era of so much modern stadiums and nothing special with New Mames... I’m sorry, but one of the most sad idea to do not modernize the old special stadium, instead of this.

Tienes buen gusto musical, te gustan los Red Hot chili pepper. Pero de fútbol estás fatal. El Athletic es uno de los 3 únicos clubes españoles que jamás han bajado a 2 división, pero es que han ganado 8 ligas, 23 copas de España, 2 super copas de España, han jugado dos finales de la UEFA, y todo esto solo con jugadores de la región, que no de toda España, por este club han jugado langara, el mítico zarra, Iribar, Julen Guerrero , Javi Martínez, Fernando Llorente etc etc. Haztelo mirar y soy madridista.

Ay por favor, en serio, que os pasa por el cerebro. Tanta envidia qué tenéis en ese continente. Que son unos amargos? el Athletic tiene una afición impresionanteeeee. En Bilbao no encontrarás a nadie del Madrid o del barca, sino del Athletic, siempre llenan san mames, siempre están con su club. Si afición para ti es saltar y mover los brazos como macacos pues todo eso para ti. Y aclaró que soy madridista.
