Bilge Pump Comparison Test: 1100GPH vs 1500GPH Real World Results.

I had to replace my old bilge pump after it burnt out on me during the field test of my mini high banker. In this test I will get the real world GPH output numbers for both pumps as well as determine how many watts they each draw. I hope this was helpful.
**Notes for those who just want the answer**
1100GPH Pump real output was 710 GPH at 42 watts.
1500GPH Pump real output was 1012GPH at 73 watts.

I spent over 30 years as a hobby-prospector. I have pretty well searched for flour gold. A couple years ago, I switched to battery power. I then sold my 4' x 10" highbanker, pumps and hoses & switched to smaller, lighter highbankers. No more pump fumes, oil, noise but a nice quiet bilge pump. I can now hear the birds or bring along a music box and listen to my favorite tunes. There are far less tasks involved switching to battery power for highbanking, resulting in more yardage per hour. And, I can hike to places previously not practical with gasoline energy. You are heading in the right direction.

Awesome! Good to hear. Yeah, I love the little PWM controller too. Lithium batteries really do put out a lot of power these days!

@@goldentroutprospecting1821 I would like to test it with a drop riffle system, the way mother nature captures gold in rivers and creeks using gravity. Drop riffle systems, when set up properly require less water flow, have less concentrates to take home and have a fantastic capture rate for even the tiniest flour gold. I already know how well minor's moss works with with metal mesh and Hungarian riffles.

@@TheJohnEdmonton Maybe a guy could make a silicone drop riffle mat to use in place of the metal and moss? The lower water flow means you can get away with smaller batteries and pump.

I’m going to wait for the Kyleferd 9000. It will be mounted on a 6x6 chassis so you can drive anywhere and will come with the drone sluice option that will transport you and it even farther. 😊

Can I use them for a chiseled water wall, 7 feet high 3 feet wide, 2 hours a day running? How much life can I expect? My water is not salty and is drinkable. Please tell.

with the new portable power stations becoming lighter and longer lasting and the state of california not wanting gas engines in the streams or on the banks what are you thoughts on running a smallish dredge nozzle on an electric water bilge pump with no noise or no gas to leak into the water or to start fires in the dry brush ... only issue is the power of the water pump being enough to run a dredge nozzle would need to be high enough to lift material into a hopper and be portable enough to carry out in the field.. have you any thoughts about running a dredge on electric power only .. any ideas abouts what products would work best for this application.. they make electric trash pumps that might also work but i have not seen anyone really use an electric dredge that worked with any real good results on moving real material and im interesting in setting something up for quiet and stealthy dredge with electric power and portable size ..would welcome any thoughts or ideas ...thanks

I've seen some KZfaq video with people making up to a 2" dredge run on bilge pumps, but never anything larger. I agree that the technology is there, when you consider what electric is capable of these days, but I haven't seen any real applications of a battery powered 3" or larger dredge. I imagine a subsurface dredge design would require less overall power to operate and with some powerful bilge pumps it would be made to work. I bet that with the use of some RC boat electronics and a custom printed high pressure water pump perfectly matching a brushless motor to the venturi's requirements could be designed and produced, and I would love so see it done, but unless someone with a lot of money were to pay me in advance to try and design such a thing, it's just not high on my priority list of things to try personally right now. If your search turns up anything promising, let me know!

I was considering a setup like this because clasifying and paning is a LOT of hard work. Scooping into a high banker is a lot easier expecially on your back, let alone the increase in processing power. I guess the best setup is a slightly higher cell li-ion battery so 4 cell and many parallel for more Ah. Then using the speed controller to controll flow and remove the ball valve completly as its no longer needed. I would go with a battery pack with a ballance charge plug not a cordless battery.

Great call on the speed controller. Cordless battery packs are great because if you already own some cordless tools, the battery is "free" other than buying an adaptor plate to plug into. They also have a built in overload protection fuse as well as their own battery management system to balance cells. Very cool!

@@UtmostOutdoors i would look at LiFePO4, or li-ion battry packs. If there premade they should have a BMS (battery management system) that protects against over draw, cell balance, tempature and peak discharge. As these packs can come in a range of sizes like 20-30ah which will last most users a day trip. These are usally sold as motor bike, e-bike or gold buggy replacement batteries. Cordless batteries are ok basic option but are still small run time use so you would need close to 4-5 5ah batteries for your day trip. I think cost analyst wise they are very expensive for what they are but they are more widely available as a basic starting point.

sir would you please tell me what is the performance difference between 12 volt 1100 gph and 24 volt 1100 gph bilje pump ? what is benifit to buy 24 volt 1100 gph instead of 12 volt 1100 gph , or vise versa.......

While I don't know for sure, a 12volt and 24 volt 1100gph pump should operate the same provided you run them at their listed voltage. The 24volt pump would require thinner wires as the amperage would be half that of the 12volt pump running the same wattage. But if you ran a 12 volt pump at 24 volts, it would spin too fast and burn out.

I haven't, but if they advertise accurately that they have 3 meters head pressure, that would mean zero flow at 3m.

That info is actually in the thumbnail. 42watts for the smaller pump, and 73 watts for the larger pump. Just devide those numbers by your running voltage of about 12 volts and you can calculate amps if you like.
