The Herd with Colin Cowherd

5 ай бұрын

The New England Patriots officially announced that they are parting ways with Bill Belichick after 24 seasons. With many teams having coaching vacancies, could Belichick remain in the NFL? Colin Cowherd reacts to the parties splitting, then explains why this wounded result was self-inflicted on Belichick's part. Meanwhile, Nick Saban retired on his terms after 17 seasons as Alabama's head coach. Colin praises Saban for a historical career, then predicts who will be the Crimson Tide's next head coach.

Btw, Saban is from the Belichick tree. He was his Defensive Coordinator with the Browns. He was with in New York, too, if I'm not mistaken. Saban is leaving because of NILs and the changing college football landscape, not because he is done per se. His Belichick take is pretty on point actually. Bill really just old and stuck in his ways towards the end. Drafting N’Keal Harry in 2019 was the beginning of the end in retrospect, I think that moment really encapsulates a lot of Bill’s shortcomings as a talent evaluator on offense. Once Gronk, Brady and Edelman moved on, there really wasn’t anyone left to power the offense. Bringing back Patricia, Judge, and O’Brien showed he was more interested in doing things his own way than in winning more rings.

Would’ve been awesome for Belichick to step down a season after Brady. Rebuild another org like ATL, Wash

He did win 2 super bowls as giants DC, so he’s def not trash if that’s what you’re implying. The real question is what’s sean payton without brees?

Everyone seems to forget that Tom Brady didn’t become the Tom Brady everyone knows until about his 8th season in the league. The first 3 Super Bowls are 100% Belichicks. As is the rams one a few years ago where he put the greatest defensive game plan ever together. The man has 8 freaking super bowl rings. Put some respek on his name.

So college football isn’t really going to change. It was boring and forgettable before, and it will be boring and forgettable next year and beyond. Thanks for the insight!

" My wife...." And that sums up The Herd now. Stay current, stay popular. Remember when Andy Reid was done? Philadelphia remembers. Then he stumbled upon Mahomes. Now he's some kind of svengali. BB ran for twenty years. Consistent. This is like a First Thing take. Watch it and forget about it five minutes later. Because today it will be " current " because, well, his wife said so. ✌️

Colin Jalen Milroe was the quarterback from the beginning of the season to the end. So all of us are unsure what you're talking about? You just said he had to replace the quarterback this year. Maybe I am missing something but yeah let us know.

i think people are miss interpretting what colin is saying. Its a different skill set to rule a lions pride than to lead a wolf pack. when of the 53 players on your team, the coach makes a portion of the stars. Bill needed to be the X and Os guy. When the person rowing your boat is already a millionare. Then you got to appease to their winning mentality, ego and pride. Where as there needs to be trust and warmth to Saban, like family. "trust in me, switch positions and i'll make sure you family is taken care of" Its a different game with 2 different crowns. Both too heavy to anyone in the next decade to wear.

Bill still had a top defense. As stated Bill left his plan. Offense still being shut down by good defense. See Browns. The offense rules not showing up in results especially playoffs depending on year. But very True Bill needed a good OC with independent control mostly and independent GM. Note Defensive getting faster to stop offense means at some points unstoppable by lighter defenses heavy Run offense will beat them. Only problem is sourcing the players that collages creating less of along with high school.
