@@WaldoBagelTopper I’ve met some interesting people at jobs. I can’t establish long term relationships or even talk with them outside of work, but even making a small joke with them one day is good enough that I’ll at least remember it a decade later & think that made the job somewhat worth wild.

XM era was Opie at his best. He'd lose his shit and bitch still. But he accepted he wasn't the comedian in the room. I think he's been on the same ego trip since FreeFM though. Opie actually had a good explanation once. "Jimmy and Anthony are funny, I'm silly." And that sounded pretty accurate. Different time though. I don't thi, know Opie now could ever do that.

I used to make skylights and had to use a break and the big sheet cutter. My hands were constantly cut up. Company gave me one pair of gloves and they ripped instantly. Opie actually was good in this. Acknowledging how he's had baby jobs his whole life. Laid out when he clearly didn't have anything to offer. Going to the phones at the right time when it seemed like Anthony & Bill were running out of juice on the topic & going to a call that would help get them a new subject to continue the conversation. This is what Opie always was best at. He wasn't the interesting guy on the radio. he was always best suited as more of a producer who talks. Sort of like that Lady from the "It's always sunny" podcast. She's not the focus, but she does chime in or supervise what's happening.

@@trickster6669 if one person in the room has a hissy fit and changes the atmosphere, the others are going to talk soon enough. None of them are angels of course, but Opie was always trying to compete with some of America's funniest comedians. He was far too sensitive to just accept his role, which was an important one. He is capable of being funny but his ego couldn't handle the whole situation. I credit him for having the talent to spot talent and he was the one that pushed The Black Phillip Show, which was his idea. But his insecurity got in the way. He got what he wanted and he is still not happy.

When i worked on the ramp at an airport our boss was a guy named Raul. He was a cuban guy who looked white and he was the biggest hardass but damn was he efficient. I used to catch him downing a tallboy from a cooler in his truck in between plane takeoffs and he probably did that at least 5 times a day. He eventually got fired, not for drinking on the job but because some newly hired black kid complained to managment that he was racist and he got fired immediatly. That black kid got fired two weeks later for martialing the wing of a plane right into a wall. When Raul got fired the place went to shit. Raul was a huge pain in the ass but damn was he a efficient supervisor.

I'm currently an estimator at a construction company. Ant would be the guy out in the field installing and working on the stuff I would have sent out. Interesting to hear what the other side is like. Honestly, I'm no better, being a kratom addict in a shitty office with holes in the leaking ceiling and barely making enough to feed myself and pay bills, working 10-12 hours on salary pay. I used to work at a bottling plant that had a conveyor belt with a box attached to it which was basically a vat of boiling industrial grade glue. When the box went by and tripped a sensor, it would spread glue on the box lids and close the top to glue the box shut. When you turned the box on it took a while to heat up and melt the solidified glue for a shift. But it would be boiling on the inside, but the surface of the glue still looked hard and solid. One day, this Albanian dude was playing with the “hard surface” of a glue box that was turned in without his knowledge. He pressed down hard and the surface suddenly split and his hand dipped into the boiling glue 😂😂 He needed to get a skin graft and they took skin from his hip 😂😂
