There was no choice. Haney v Garcia was the headliner fight. If it didn’t happen, the whole card would have been cancelled. That wasn’t even a realistic consideration…everybody loses in that situation. All the money that’s been invested in promoting the fight for months goes down the drain. Every undercard fighter who really needs the money gets nothing. All the arena workers don’t get paid, etc, etc, etc. You get it? Haney had to agree to an amount to make the fight happen.

I don’t see how any real boxing fan can look past the fact that Devin lacked fundamentals in the fight. There isn’t a PED in history that made the opposing get hit with same punch over and over again. Not to mention, he said Ryan was a C-level fighter. So less than a tenth of a gram of a banned substance turned a C-level fighter into a killer? I think not.

Both fighters have to make the weight. Weight bullying generally is not a thing. If a fighter blows up tremendously after weighing in, that isn’t a good thing because the fighter had to tax his body so much to get down to the weight. Just because a fighter significantly rehydrates the day of the fight doesn’t mean he’s strong. Losing all that weight takes a toll that isn’t immediately restored when the fighter rehydrates…especially if a fighter is dropping way down. There have been plenty of instances of fighters having nothing when they stepped into the ring after dropping too much weight.

Don’t agree with Mr Haney. Only reason a boxer would drop 20lbs plus & drain ur body is for an advantage. Take a look at this to see if 20lbs or more make a difference. Cutting weight is cutting your muscle and strength tremendously and can have terrible effects later on. Rehydration to whatever weight doesn’t give you back that muscle power. It actually makes you more sluggish because you put on fat but lost muscle to make weight. That does NOT give someone an advantage. They’re very likely slower than before after rehydration.

Just like they agreed on the contracted weight he also agreed to proceed with a fight, even though Ryan was heavier by 3.2 pounds, he took the money. Devon said it wasn’t a problem. Bill said it wasn’t a problem. So why is he complaining now if he supposedly stands on business and integrity and keeping his word?

That's just pure speculation. And do realize the reason why same day weighIn is frowned upon in pro boxing ranks is because there is a potential risk of increase of deaths in the Ring. That's the part that people don't want to talk about

This is true talk from Bill Haney. This concept of weight bullying never existed back in the day, and isn't a real thing in Combat sports. Fighters just need to make there weight for weigh in. What you rehydrate to is your business ..

This isn’t even realistic. They changed weigh-ins to the day before the fight for safety issue. Fighters who aren’t heavyweights often step on the scale dehydrated. They can’t get in the ring like that.
