Sometimes you have to watch another comedian's stand up bits and then watch Hicks to gain some perspective because Hicks owns everybody. He's in another league in another solar system and if you disagree you're wrong get over it.

This guy is supposed to be the uber-edgy influence on Carlin's later work? From what I can see, Kinison was the one heavily influenced by Hicks. Both Hicks and Kinison were good but Carlin is just (truthfully) on a whole other level - One he shares only with Pryor. Carlin's later work can best be compared to the great philosophical legends such as Socrates. He was not only insanely hilarious but also super deep thinker and honestly rebellious towards the societal expectations of the times. Those rebellions he championed have largely become reality I might I add and those things he truly railed against were prophetic to our cellphone infested, social media obsessed, "reality" TV diseased existence. Bill is entertaining the crowd well and really going for it here but considering his contemporaries at this time were George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy and Robin Williams, all EXACTLY in their prime, it's hard to say he was pushing the edge even slightly. No offense or disrespect intended towards him at all - I was just given to understand something I'm not seeing represented here. Can you, perhaps, point me towards another KZfaq clip that better illustrates yours, and so many other's, point?

I don't think his delivery was always best- not compared to other comedians- but yet he is one of the top in history because his material was genius and extremely courageous. A lot of audiences hated him for his being outspoken and his vulgarity, but yet he was a loving person who always wanted to incorporate his concern for humanity in his act. It really tormented him, and he would never submit to something he didn't believe in. He wanted to make people laugh and he wanted to open peoples' eyes. People didn't like that about him, but I love how he explains in a BBC interview that "this isn't TV live.. I speak to the audience like they're my friends.. to give them what they want is condescending ."

@Where Is Waldo Yeah, but internet memes are almost all completely fabricated and forced, very few of them actually become the units of cultural information that Dawkins intended when he coined the term. Sheep as blind followers goes back centuries. The NPC meme will probably be dead this time next year like any other fad. The NPC meme itself would look like the New Kids to him.

When I get high all I do is watch Bill Hicks to stimulate my mind because it's a long stretch up there. And when I read comments like this, I just can't stop laughing. So thank you for the good vibe! Peace!

NomadicBlackRegent 1789 There was this "joke ", Q: Why is Dennis Leary a household name and Bill Hicks isn't? A: Because there's no cure for cancer. If you listen to Dennis Leary's( I think there's only one "n" in his name. I'd check. but, he's not really worth the effort), No cure got cancer the rip is evident. It's a well known fact Leary stole ALOT of Bill's stuff and he stole from others, too. It ruined their friendship. Bill once said he quit smoking, just to see if Dennis would.

It's kinda ironic that most of his biggest fans, missed his greatest and most profound message, "There is no death" , the origin of the word "die" indicated that it was at first a NOUNE, NOT a VERB, and all it meant was "outside of perception". Perception is limited and based on our fundamental believes. In this world but not off it " - Jesus Crist. I can only conclude that Bill had the same idea, and to be honest so do I. Home is where heart is, and the heart knows that the world out there is unnatural, and backwards, a power struggle and therefore best accepted as "Just a Ride", Bill's words. This is logical interpretation of something that makes no sense, and thus definitely rings TRUE to me personally. A dream world in which technically spoken, that if you "die" you just wake up somewhere else perhaps in another space-time continuum. Once again it reminds me of the crucifixion, the crucifixion did not establish the Atonement, the RESURECTION did. And Bill without any other teaching or guidance, came to the exact same conclusion, therefore, Nothing Else really mattered. Bill cannot therefor be "dead", he's secretly still causing havoc elsewhere, this time below the threshold. He, just like Jesus Christ, and my self therefore included form part of infinite consciousness that cannot be destroyed.
