DO3 What he means is that healing is very much part of the good news of Jesus. In that sense, yes it is very much a part of the full gospel. That’s not the same thing as saying you have to be healed to be saved. Also, it is not the gospel you receive. It is the gospel you hear and respond to. It is the Holy Spirit you receive. The apostles are called disciples in this passage. It would be a mistake to undermine the Matt 10 mandate as exclusively apostolic. Apostleship is mentioned as a gift along with prophets and teachers. There will never be another with the authority of the 12 when it comes to written, authoritative doctrine. Authority in the Spirit over the demonic realm is an entirely different matter. There will continually be visionaries and fathers operating as apostles in accordance to the Holy Spirit, and there likewise will continually be disciples operating in great authority according to the Spirit's pleasure.

@@lightlover33 depends if you read a Bible from the Textus Receptus or Textus Vaticanis. In the Receptus it says Apostles. The Bible clearly states there was 12 Apostles and 120 disciples. If there wasn't a need to distinguish between the two then the distinction wouldn't be made. The problem with people self-proclaiming or telling others they are Apostles is that Apostles have authority to write scripture. A disciple or any saved Christian beyond the 12 does not. People read parts of the new testament and pluck out what they want and apply that to themselves today without looking at the context and what covenant and who it was directed at. For instance blaspheming the Holy Spirit being unforgivable was directed at the Pharisees who claimed Jesus' power was of the devil. The Pharisees had the opportunity to have faith by sight and rejected Christ. The covenant God made with man through Christ has done away with the permanent consequence of blaspheming the Holy Spirit in the age of Grace because we now discern rather than flat out deny Christ in the flesh being Christ. So its important to understand the dispensations and the direction of the scripture otherwise we can take Genesis where it says subdue the earth and think its our duty to bring the earth under subjection.

The Bible clearly states there were 12 ORIGINAL apostles as founders of the church. There is absolutely no getting around the equivalency in context of Paul's list of gifts in Ephesians 4:11. Paul does not present "apostles" as a historically curtailed gift. The context presents exactly the opposite. Charismatic culture has had no problem distinguishing between the 12 and the gift. The gift set as distinguished from pastor and teacher is quite obvious. Your worries are unfounded.

And why is that? Because of the fall, because of sin, because of how the bible describes the human heart.
