June 7, 1990 - Detroit Pistons bruiser Bill Laimbeer tied a then-NBA Finals record by connecting on six 3-pointers during Game 2 of the 1990 NBA Finals. Five of Laimbeer's triples came in the fourth quarter and overtime, leading to a narrow 106-105 defeat at the hands of the Portland Trail Blazers.
Laimbeer tied a mark set by Michael Cooper, who initially set the record in Game 2 of the 1987 Finals when he hit six of seven from deep. Kenny Smith and Scottie Pippen would both best Laimbeer's record in the 90's by connecting on seven 3-pointers before Boston Celtics guard Ray Allen set the current record by hitting eight 3-pointers in Game 2 of the 2010 NBA Finals.

@@maciejguzek3442 But you're overlooking the intangibles... I honestly doubt Detroit gets two championships, maybe not even one without him. Tough as nails, dude hardly ever missed a game in his career. He was THE master of getting oppositions out of their game. He was a very underrated defender, I've never seen a player draw more charges then he did. He didn't get a lot of blocks, one per game, but he was very effective at changing shots, positioning. It was that positioning that allowed him to lead the league and rebounding twice. When he retired, he was one of just 15 players in NBA history to have over 10,000 points and rebounds. And his percentage would be even higher if he played today, because not only is defense softer today, but three-point shooting is such a premium now that he would have practiced it more, been even better at it.

Offensively, Laimbeer was their fourth or fifth option. Thomas, Dumars, Aguirre, and sometimes with the three guard rotation Johnson were all very potent offensive weapons that took more shots, and got more attention. Also, apparently they didn't get the scouting report on Bill's ability to hit out there.
