The beat is actually very simple, with a sample making it unique and west coasty. Also, with a cool bassline. Kendrick just brought the song to another level

To be fair he probably only sent kdot like a 16 -32 bar loop with all the stems. Kdot most likely did all the arrangement in the studio when recording the verses. Not minimizing mustard's fire ass production in any means.

its simple, the whole song is just a loop, minus the sample chops of the sample, i reckon the 25 minutes went to finding places to chop the sample (chopping, /manipulating) and the rest of the song was just a quick beat, it doesnt change except for maybe an 808 roll

Remember kids, Kendrick and Drake are signed to the same label. Both of the records getting approved to be cleared by the same man that signed all of their checks and if you look at all the artist that were in the game for years, they never got the UM G, for Sony, Colson, etc. till after they did something like sacrificing Metro Boomin’s mother then overnight he gets the Sony UMG is promoted everywhere and it was like if he didn’t do this, he wasn’t allowed to work in produce for these people anymore until next time kids
