You can isolate your voice from all other noise using A1 with the Waves Clarity VX and the room reverb (echo) with Clarity de-reverb plug ins. It’s phenomenal. Garbage truck was making noise outside, it completely blocked it out. It makes my ordinary bedroom sound like a $8,000 sound booth

Bill, I actually think you've helped me more than anyone on the internet when it comes to voice over. I thank you.

There's an AI noise suppression plugin for audacity that I've had an incredible time with. It doesn't work when you use it on a clip of just room noise, but when it's used on a clip of my voice it almost completely eliminates the noise from my computer fan (I'm saving up for a passive CPU cooler, look into one of those if you have your computer in your recording space) and I have thick velvet robes hung up around my mic.

Love C-Suite C-Vox. Currently part of the UA Super Summer 2024 Bundles sale so I got it and two other plugins for $149.

Thanks again Bill... good info. I am currently recording in a closet in my attic usually after midnight due to outside noise. By the end of next month I should be able to move into the DIY studio I am putting into the upstairs of my detached garage. I have researched a TON of videos on building an ideal (not perfect) sound booth complete with ventilation. ALL of this is funded by income generated from voice work. And a car??? come to think of it, if you are a fan of TikTok...a LOT of people record videos in their cars and they always sound good.

Hello Coach DeWees. I found your video very informative and the audio sounded great. I have been building my own DAW and I'm at the part where I was to buy acoustic form from Amazon and eyeing 48 pieces for $65. Lucky for me your video was right on time. Now I'm looking at Auralex Acoustic Form. Thank you for pointing out that bump on the road. Your sound treatment advice was on the point, listening to you saved me time and money. Once again you are the guiding light that shines in the night. Thank you Coach once again

Thanks for the car idea. I was planning on working around my husband‘s schedule because he can be noisy, but being able to work in the car will give me more flexibility with time.

I'm hoping to move my set up to either a closet under the stairs or a closet in my master bedroom. My kids room is above my current set up and they jump around all day! Haha. My basement would just have the same problem lol. But I think my master closet would be perfect.

I have a prefab soundbooth that I rarely use because it gets so darn hot that after 20 minutes of use, I have to take a break and and use a portable AC unit to cool it off. I've sense switch to dynamic mics (RE20) with foam in my home office. However, I do have to record at night, but at least that is an option. I do occasionally use my soundbooth - but I would not make that kind of purchase again - and I may consider selling it.

Thanks Bill. Good tips. I'm currently using my master closet with GIK Acoustics Bass Traps on the ceiling. Not perfect but does work quite well. Also is that an MKH416 microphone and if so how do you like it? Considering purchasing one for VO work and love the flexibility of it to use for other sound applications too.

Hey! Love your channel. Information AND Motivation! Can I ask a LITTLE question that for me is BIIIIG? After a ton of work I finally have my "voice booth" to where it's way more than adequate. But when I put on my headphones I still hear a little tiny hiss. Is this normal? Equipment noise? Or is there something wrong with my equipment? I'm running an AT2020 mic through (trendy, I know) a Focusrite Scarlett into my laptop (and my laptop is OUTside the booth). Thank you! I'm losing my mind ha ha.

Ive noticed that everyone working in a vocal booth has a 'boxy' voice which doesnt sound open and airy including yours. Its an unnnatural sound an no way around it when recording in small spaces. My wife is a voice over talent and im a guitar player and we are looking to create a live room in our home instead of using a booth. However, the only room available is our master bedroom so its a multi use and not a dedicated live room. Ive been in consultation with a top accoustic expert whos built multi million dollar studios in LA and New York and he says in that case its best to go with mobile accoustic foam panels. The 4x6 framed foam panels can be moved around to create 4 walls surrounding the voice talent and mic position or guitarist or even around a mix desk to absorb reflections down to 90hz with 6" foam per panel. Best thing is the product specifically focuses on the 100hz - 500hz range which is so critical for voice work and many music fundamental freqs. So the top end stays open and the room keep the voice airy and open,, not boxy sounding and its thousands of dollars less than a whisper room booth. Just my .02
