I had the pleasure of seeing Chubby perform this and other tunes on a few occasions during several years attendance at the Georgia Bluegrass Festival, held annualy then at Shoal Creek Music Park in Lavonia, Georgia, during the mid-1970's. Saw many of the bluegrass greats of the time as well. Wonderful music, wonderful times.

A legend in country music. One of the finest fiddle players that ever drew a slick bow across a used string and the co-writer of the orange blossom special. Thank you!

DatCamp G Chubby wise had nothing to do with writing the OBS. He played it often & helped put it on the map, but Ervin Rouse is the only name on the copyright & the only one who ever drew royalties off the song. Wise spewed that claim for years, but it was a complete falsehood!

His name wasn't on the copywright, but sadly, that doesn't always mean anything. He wouldn't have been the first (or last) songwriter to get screwed out of his royalties.

Chubby worked the Opry forever and a day. He performed and recorded with the all-time greats of country music, including Hank Williams. A great fun clip to watch.

A few musicians have something their colleagues don't: a face that plainly expresses the joy they feel in playing. Chubby Wise is one of these rare musicians. He's as fun to watch as he is to hear.

Chubby Wise was not the co writer of Orange Blossom Special. Ervin Rouse is the only name on the copyright! Wise played it so much that he helped put the song on the map, but he didn't have anything to do with writing it. He tried to steal it & claimed it for years, but Rouse is the only one who drew royalties off the song. His claim was an outright lie.

Great tight performance. People have got into the habit of extending this piece and trying to make it more dramatic, but it never works. A real artist just plays it right through and it doesn't get any better than this performance. Feel good now!

Those were the years of country TV. Amazing talent on screen. Bad state of affairs on TV these days. All good TV shows as TNN , Nashville Now , Hee Haw I'd give anything to go those years. Todays TV producers only care about the 15-21 years olds.

He fiddled for Hank Snow for years. Hank wore a toupee. Chubby worked his way close to Hank on stage and flicked that bow just right to catch Hank’s toupee just right and knock it onto the stage. Hank was pissed! Chubby was quite a joker I read.

Quite a joker & liar! He had nothing to do with writing the OBS! Ervin Rouse wrote the song & Wise has been trying to claim co authorship ever since. It disturbs me when someone tries to steal something that isn't theirs. The royalties went to Rouse, where it was supposed to go..not to Wise!
