17 isn't a child the same way 10 years old is a child. I feel like people try to make that equivalence all the time. Starting from 13 you are a teenager, not a child. I didn’t fully realize and accept that I was groomed until this year at age 22… there’s a reason why children CANNOT consent. My groomer convinced me I was so much more mature and developed than anyone around me so I thought it just didn’t apply to me and I never saw myself as a victim or told anyone about it until I was 19 If ANYONE tells you you’re so mature for your age please don’t accept it as praise and do not trust that person. to look at a child and see extremely adult behaviors, it’s honestly concerning and sad, it is not impressive. unless you’re a predator there’s literally no reason to encourage the adultification of children There are certain things you just can’t understand before you develop, no matter how much “experience” you think you have. things really do shift at some point after turning 18 and you realize what it means to be an adult. That’s why child abuse is taken so seriously, even in prisons where addicts, murderers, human traffickers, etc, basically the “worst people” in our society have absolutely zero tolerance for hurting children.

Let me try to understand this. So there's an older man that comes by and tells you that you are mature, then you go through the motions of a relationship as usual. Next, you find someone your own age who probably says some things to try to charm you in the same way, and you guys go through the motions of a relationship. What's the difference beyond placing a negative stigma on the age gap? I'm talking about age gap relationships with people above the age of consent here. I don't think there's much of a difference beyond the social pressure of feeling like an age gap is bad. Otherwise, you just have two people of legal age socializing in the way that you do within a relationship.

Cuz really, it’s the truth. An “i told you so moment” is when you point smthin out that u think is “truth”, it is bypassed as incorrect, but later comes out to be correct. It doesnt need to be something crude or inappropriate (such as rubbing it into someone’s face), it can quite literally just be an observation

Society has made women feel shameful of the trauma they endure, blaming them instead of their abuser. When a women is SA'd, they are told it's their fault, and that they were "asking for it" or they "knew what they were getting into" when in reality, they are coerced, gaslit, and shamed: making it difficult to speak up for themselves or get the help they need. Most aren't even aware they're being abused until it is too late.

I dated a 30 yo when i turned 19 and at first he seemed pretty creeped out at the idea, but then he started buying me stuff, taking me everywhere i couldn't afford even the cheapest thing. I felt so special because someone of that age was interested in me with so many options out there. Today i can see the power dynamics, how i changed my personality to fit into his life and not "make a fool" of myself, i tried to be a 30 yo and fulfill his desires, even the ones i was weirded out or didn't like at all. At that time no one ever told me he was taking advantage of me, but all the time i heard i was weird for dating an older man.

Billie Eilish may not understand it or admit it now but as someone who went through the exact same thing as her with my ex-husband eventually she needs to realize that she was gr00med, and she wouldn't have thought he was attractive if he hadn't made an emotional connection with her from a young age. Watching Billie get victimized like that was pretty chilling. It’s so weird seeing it happen, understanding exactly what’s going on, but not being able to do anything. So much unnecessary trauma. I just hope she’s not as scarred as I was when I was her age-I was victimized by a 41-year-old sociopath. I’m still dealing with the trauma to this day, and I’m 31 now. I’ve been through a lot in my life, including heroin addiction and homelessness, but being preyed on by a much older man was definitely the most disturbing experience I’ve had. Whenever I get flashbacks I squeeze my eyes shut and shudder. It’s intense. Anyway, hope she’s okay.

Instead use them as a motivator knowing your strength and amazing abilities. You DESERVE success and happiness
