Күн бұрынWith Lyrics by Marty Symes & Music by Isham Jones, "There Is No Greater Love" is a 1936 jazz standard composed by Isham Jones, with lyrics by Marty Symes. It was the last hit song for Jones's orchestra before the bandleader turned the orchestra over to Woody Herman, beginning the latter's 50 year career as a bandleader.
The song is often played as a ballad -- an example of this approach is Dinah Washington's 1954 recording on Dinah Jams. Medium-tempo swing renditions have also been recorded by several artists, including Miles Davis on two occasions.

Ohh WOW I just listen to Amy's live version it was Beautiful and so was her Voice even though she started out sounding a little like Billie but then she put her own spin on it that voice spoke for itself that's what I like about when someone remake some of these old classic they are not for everybody but Yes she did that thank you Mr. O'Neal

I prefer the Amy Winehouse version. She sings a lot like Billie, but with more emotional depth in my opinion. I know that sounds blasphemous to some because Lady Day is revered for her ability to convey feeling through her voice...but I don't know...it never quite translated to me.

I feel just the opposite. While I can appreciate Amy's skill, she never reached me in a gut-level way. It seemed to me she was always just playing at it. I consider Billie a transcendent artist who put music on another emotional plane altogether. But to each his own, of course.

I firmly believe in Lovette first sight, but with some stipulations. To my mind Billie Holiday is almost perfect! But then I found out how much she likes to drink while she is in her recording sessions! It actually makes me lose A lot of respect for her! Plus, I could never put up with her lifestyle! LOL I will explain in a reply what happened to me.

I always loved jazz but I understood why my parents wouldn’t buy me any records. No one knew what was good and they wouldn’t believe me when I said I did. … I was 19 and the neighbours were playing jazz! I was walking on air when I found out it was A radio program! I ran to the radio and turned it on! I soon heard Billie holiday! I was stunned! 25 seconds later and I was in love! I bought five CDs site unseen, spent $105, and when I open the box I realized I should’ve bought five more! The magic has never left me! This has always been my love song to Billie! i’ve known I would die alone since I was 12! But at least I have Billie! to think it took me 25 seconds to fall hopelessly in love! Thank you Billie! … 31 years later and I still have at least one CD of hers in my player at all times.

In a later post, someone said I did not know what I was talking about when I said that. Was amy hounded by the police just because she was black? Was Amy ever in danger for singing strange fruit? Or sexually abused at 10? Amy Winehouse never suffered nothing except for her actions as a mentally ill person.
