@BillieEnglish
@BillieEnglish 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Nelly! Thank you for your comment :-) I will try! So, the schwa is a sound and so if it is there we can always hear it, even though it is a short sound. I think maybe you are talking about words where the letter 'e' is silent? For example in the words 'have', 'time' etc. Leave me a comment below to clarify and I will do my best to help you!
@nnelly47

@@BillieEnglish yes, teacher, now it's much clearer, thank you very much teacher Billie😊and also the schwa is used a lot in connected speech, isn't it? Well, thank you teacher Billie, I really appreciate your help, thank you🤗

The video was very helpful, thank you! However i'm confused because of the practice in the end - the schwa is described as "empty" or close to the sound "ö" but then there is schwa in words like "and", "had" & "at" which aren't pronounced like "ö" but more like "ä". I thought a sound like "ä" was marked as "æ" so why is it also sometimes the schwa?
@BillieEnglish
@BillieEnglish 2 жыл бұрын
This is because grammatical words like 'and', 'had' and 'at' (= words that make up the grammar but do not carry content) are usually reduced in connected speech to weak forms. Now you are probably wondering, what is a weak form? Thankfully, I have a video on that topic too: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/kMxxh5qS39fKn6c.html I hope this explains the two possible pronunciations of these words!

Is there schwa in word -'number'
@BillieEnglish
@BillieEnglish 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, there is a schwa right at the end for the letters 'er'. The full transcript is: /ˈnʌm.bər/ - the /r/ at the end should be elevated (I cannot type it like this in YT). You could look it up in the online dictionary from Cambridge. You can also listen to the full pronunciation there. I hope this helps :-)

Dear Madam, Please tell us how many thousands of English words have Schwa sound ? Please make some 100 videos with each video having some 100 English words with Schwa sound and each video should have Non repeating Schwa sounded words. You can make it as Part 1, Part 2, .............., Part 99, Part 100 each part having different words. We all like your style of teaching very much. While teaching you should specifically show the vowel in a particular word having Schwa sound as shown in this video. Thank you very much for your nice video. With lots of love and regards, As we hail from India we also wish you a very happy teachers' day. Jàyanta Jit Hazarika, 05/09/2021

@@BillieEnglish You are welcome. Thank you very much for your positive response. Words are called Brahma in Indian scriptures. Nowadays English is the most widely used language all over the world. You might have heard of the exam called GRE which is a standardized test meant for admission into American colleges. It has a very good vocabulary list. I am a perpetual well wisher of you. I like to tell you about creating new content in your channel. You can make a large number of vlogs for building good vocabulary which would definitely attract many new subscribers as many thousands of Indian students appear in various administration's ( the exam is held multiple times in a year and each of them is called an administration ) every year. Students from various streams like science, arts engineering appear in the exam. So I hope you would put importance on this suggestion of mine also and accordingly make and upload many more quality videos on GRE Generel. May God bestow His Blessings on you ! With lots of love and regards, Jàyanta Jit Hazarika 09/09/2021
