Prince Mateen has the best of both worlds, he is much freerer (not have the burden of being King but still enjoy all the lavish travel, lifestyle), being happy to be himself, still being ‘grounded’, so to speak. Good luck to him and Anisha.

Don’t think he is being groomed to be the crown Prince and most probably Prince Mateen enjoys his unique position, ie the expression ‘having his cake and eating it”. Being king will court controversy, not being so free, have the time to pursue enjoyable activities eg polo playing, travel incognito as and when he wants without being bogged down by too many official duties, etc, etc, much added stress. So Prince Mateen has the BEST combination for a wonderful life. Not forgetting he spent his formative years studying abroad, plus very importantly his mother being a great influence for him during those formative years, being grounded, humble, successful and how he has turned out, a fine young man. King Hassanal Bolkiah must be so proud of him.

I READ ALL COMMENTS , Sultana Saliha is avery strong lady, her sons have the priority, her elder sons is the Crown prince, as soon as the Sultan pass away, he will become THE SULTAN and his son will become the crown prince, Unfortunately Prince Mateen HIS mother is not Brunies , so he cannot be the SULTAN at any case, as soonm as the SULTAN will be our of scene, the NEW SULTAN will elimiinate Prince 's Mateen role to minmum, to diminih his figure ..
