The drywipe covered cargo has given me the idea to make some kind of horrible death shroud/sheet-ghost model. Just sculpt something really gnarly looking and cover almost all of it with a wetwipe and modpodge so only the general shape of the thing comes through.

I've got a persisted idea for Chaos creatures, like mutated cultists or spawn, that are just random body parts from historical models (humans, horses, etc) and tentacles sticking out from under cloth. With random bits of aluminum foil and chopped up sprue bits to act as a frame. The cloth hides a multitude of sins, in-universe and out of it.

I love that you went from a massive tank and robot to scatter terrain. It gives inspiration for both kinda time frames, big projects you invest weeks into or something you can fit into the few hours you get for a crammed schedule. I hope we get to see deep in that well one day, I can only imagine what you got planned for it

It's always amazing how differently builds hit after they're primed. First their bits and bobs glued to parts and pieces. Turn it a uniform color and it's suddenly an array of crates and containers fresh off the ship, a scrapped together well with a purification pump.

I do love these little things, they add a lot of life and detail to a world without spending a lifetime making them like with bigger projects. I'm not too skilled at these things, i wish I was and I love watching people make things but I'm a writer at heart. They're not too different, making pieces or writing them into existence, it brings life and love into a project all the same.

Scatter terrain videos are actually really useful, as they're projects even novice crafters can build. Or it at least seems that way. It asks less of people than big builds, and so seems more approachable. I built some tarp-covered cargo palettes a while back. Took some wood craft cubes and some copper couplings, and covered them in paper towels soaked in PVA and paint. Really messy, and it took forever to dry, but it worked. Spiced them up with some 3D printed barrels and ammo crates I ordered off the internet. I imagine something like Legos (or off brand Lego-compatible blocks they sell at the dollar store) could work as the basis for ammo crates. Just need to chop off the pegs, cover the top, and greeble the block up.

I've seen a lot of videos of people making foam bricks, this is the first time I've become convinced: hey maybe I should start cutting some myself. Good way to fill a spot of time when You're not sure what else you should be working on right now but want to make some foreward progress - and when you've got a lot of foam scraps to do something with!

One little piece of scatter that is always useful and very quick to make is just general debris, broken pieces of terrain you would normally throw away covered in some sand and rocks, good for ruins, good for garbage piles, great for ambushing players or for a quick hiding place. Alternatively, extra bricks left from a previous build stacked together to imply construction site.

Random idea I had while watching this: make a video where you make something substantial out of primarily a single type of odd-shaped recycled thing, like mostly plastic spoons, or mostly dead markers, or mostly soda bottle caps, or the plastic trays in the boxes of Valentine's Day chocolates. It would just be neat to see someone's overwhelming hoard of some specific type of recyclable get turned into something impressive, like a ship or robot or building or bug. (And no, beads don't count!) Show a mound of that one object at the beginning, and show what it got magically turned into at the end for the before and after shot. Anyway, yeah, make more scatter terrain! I'm excited to see the greenhouse dome thing. And the story about the well is so far my favorite Bill's-painting-now story, I think.

Cheers Bill! My 12year old Son and i have got into Warhammer, and i recently made a 4x4 ft battlefield by shoving together a couple of folding wallpaper pasting tables. 😂 i put black cardboard on top to make up quarters to give it a nice 'base' for all the mad stuff we're making. I created a ruined mcdonalds (i'm killing it?), a cathedral, two small concrete wall sections and a forest section. At the moment the pva and sand texture's drying. Your vids have inspired me to go and ransack b&q, wilko and boyes. 😂 Cheers me old Mate! Love the humour style. Reminds me of Simon Pegg's stuff. Haaa! 😂🤝👍
