This is a tutorial to show you how to properly remove pop / blind rivets and install them diy. Pop rivets are commonly used when dealing with sheet metal or thin metal and is used for clamping two pieces of metal together. Pop rivets can be removed properly without any damage by drilling them out as shown in the video. Installing pop rivets is very easy, cheap and fast to do . It's always good to show how the fastener works before diving in to the install or removal methods. Most of the other rivet videos left that part out. Good job!

Thank you sir! My Maserati has 2 of these things and had no idea on how to remove them. I tried using a hex key lol! Thank again, you saved me a headache. Purchased a pop rivet tool at Harbor Freight

Finally a clear visual demonstration.. I thought before when drilling into the pop rivet I had to drill deep into the long piece. It just popped off when I drilled it. My problem is that my rivet was driven into a 3/8 inch piece of plywood (from the 1930s) so I hope it will simple complete pop off when I drill it. The affected object is a highly valuable chair.

Now I’m sorry I threw out the pop rivet gun had it for years and never knew what to do with it. Thanks for making this so clear I have a little caravan and pop rivets are the only fastener I can use. Now I’ll have to get another gun.

Backup washers (made by pop-rivet) are good to use when attaching to thin sheet metal like the shed. They make the rivet much stronger.

Great instructional video! Thank you for the simplicity as I now understand how to use this fastening method. I totally understand why Honda outdoor motors & products are SUPERIOR to Briggs & Stratton! Briggs & Stratton uses pop rivots to fasten the recoil starter to their engines vs Honda who uses simple bolts (10 mm) that remove easily & don't cause metal to break off & fall into the flywheel area. If you need to repower your outdoor equipment, pay the extra up front for the Honda motor as it's well worth it in the long run. (Honda spare parts are 1/3rd the cost of Briggs & Stratton)
