VC didn't dislike Toronto, he loved it there. He created the nightlife Toronto has today and brought Bottle Service. During the period of time leading to his exit to the Nets he was dealing with a new coach Sam Mitchell, who he disliked and got into a physical fight with, he disliked the management, they were not getting the players he wanted to help win which lead him to saying he will never dunk again because he felt that every night he was going to the hole but it was all for nothing and he kept getting knocked around and getting injured. In addition he had a lot of things in his personal like such as his manager/agent stole tons of money from him right before this time period but he was still dealing with it. He just had a lot of bad luck in Toronto.

I still remember being pissed when my Rockets (who had three 1st round picks in this draft) passed on Rashard Lewis. He went to high school in the Houston area, would have fit perfectly in Rudy T’s offense which put an emphasis on hitting the open 3 which gave Hakeem Olajuwon room to operate, and if he’s still on the team when they get Yao and T-Mac he’s the perfect third scoring option.

I'm a lifetime Nuggets fan, and I'll never forget passing on Vince Carter for Raef LaFrentz. We could have a starting five of 1) Nick Van Exel, 2) Chauncey Billups, 3) Vince Carter, 4) Antonio McDyess, 5) Just some stiff. We would have something work with.

What happened to Carter: 1. His first few years Totonto had a solid front office and then it imploded and Richerd Pettie and Rob Babcock ruined him 2. He did have a bad attitude towards the end with no patience.

I think Vince’s career got derailed due to injury problems in ‘02 and ‘03. One of the most promising careers screwed up by injuries and his mentality. He was wasted in New Jersey, and should have been dealt somewhere else. I wish he had just been loyal to Toronto. By the way, I’m 22, and I think T-Mac was better, no hesitation.

There's a reason 2000-2001 was VC's best year. It's called Charles Oakley. He's the only guy I ever saw who managed to get Vince to try his best. VC did a lot for Toronto, and I'll always love him for it. But he quit on us, no question, and I'll always hate him a little bit for that too.

Raef LaFrentz was a solid defender too.

I’m confused. I thought Dallas had the 6th pick that year. I distinctly remember the order being: Jamison to Toronto, Carter to Golden State (then the trade) and Traylor to Dallas… and I was very bummed out, haha! Even after I heard about the trade with Milwaukee, who picked 9th, for Nowitzki, I was not enthused. I’m glad I was wrong… also, Jamison had a pretty nice career. He wasn’t bad in Dallas, either. He actually won 6th Man of the Year that season. Interesting to note: Dallas had had three winners for that award.

Can love Vince and all and i was surprised he became a good veteran leader later on his career, however I never saw this amount of talent play so many soul less games in his peak. Still disappointed in his overall career, I saw so much more in him.

Larry Hughes actually only played on *6* _DIFFERENT_ teams, not 8, like they said. There were 8 different transactions that included his name, be they trades that included his name (you see some of those), or changing teams via Free Agency, but regardless, there are only 6 teams on the list, which does not count as 8 teams.

Guys are forgetting how good of a three-point shooter Vince Carter was. Here are his shooting percentages in his first 7 seasons: Rookie season: .288 2000: .403 on 3 attempts/game 2001: .408 on 5 attempts/game 2002: .387 on 5 attempts/game 2003: .344, injury-shortened season 2004: .383 on 3 attempts/game 2005: .406 on 4 attempts/game These are great numbers from a volume scorer, and the percentages are about on par with Kevin Durant. He didn't have the benefit of just sitting in the corner waiting for a wide-open shot. The only way I take Rashard Lewis ahead of Vince is if you know Vince refuses to be a second-option.

Toronto is not retiring Vince's number. The only thing he did was get us to the second round. in his last 2 years he was just dejected and didnt want to commit to winning. Then he subsequently forces his way out of town.

I think people hype up Vince so much, just because of that dunk contest. Like he just wasn’t a winner, he wasn’t an incredible defender that could lock guys up. He wasn’t an amazing shooter that could kill you from mid range or from deep, though he had some good seasons shooting the 3. Every team he was on after Toronto, was never better than they were before he was there. NJ made 2 finals, and he didn’t get em back. Phoenix was a contender and had some good seasons and your hope is too bring in vince so Nash can rely on his, but he didn’t help when he was there he couldn’t get them back to contention, Orlando had been to the finals, and he didn’t help them, Dallas won the title and he didn’t help them, Memphis was a really good team, but he was playing like 15-20 minutes a game, and didn’t contribute because he was now old. Atlanta and Sacramento were terrible teams, so he was playing meaningless minutes putting up meaningless points. He just wasn’t a winner, he couldn’t will your team to a deep run. He was a flashy dunker. THATS IT.

Vince Carter ended up with the same issue as derrick Rose. Both were extremely talented and both had top tier explosiveness were physically stronger and quicker then the rest of the league. Both Ended up with leg injuries that slowed them down and neutered they’re “above the rim” game. And both had to quickly figure out a entirely new way of playing offense which entailed less drives to the rim and more mid range and 3 pointer shot attempts. Their jumpshots gave them a new lease on their careers and if they were stubborn and didn’t adjust, then they would of been run outta the league yrs before they actually wanted to! D. Rose wouldn’t be playing in the Garden right now, let alone the last 5+ yrs or so!
