A documentary where the billionaire got paid $10m while no one else was paid a dime from the bulls. MJ had final say over the doc and approved it the day Bron won in '16. One line from a doc you had complete control over isn't magnanimous, its calculated.

But I don't understand, Scottie legit had almost an entire episode on his backstory and amazing rise, his skills, etc. I thought he had just as much, if not more, praise than Dennis and the others? And the obvious praise from MJ himself about Pip being his greatest teammate and essentially that the 6 couldn't be done without him.

I don’t think it’s about The Last Dance. I think Scottie was always envious and insecure about being viewed as a sidekick and not an equal to Michael. Look at his reaction to Phil drawing up the last play for Kukoc. Checked himself out because he felt it was his turn to shine with Mike being absent. The Last Dance just reopened wounds he never got over. He felt exposed to a whole new generation of people and handled it in the worst way imaginable.

Pippen mentioned in his book that Jordan bought him some golf clubs when he was a rookie which was probably a invite to be in his inner circle. Pippen did get the ball at the end in that Knicks game and he let the shot clock run down to where he either rushed a bad shot or it didn’t get it off. I don’t remember that part of it but I remember that he struggled dribbling the ball past his defender and was angry afterwards at a teammate who didn’t set a screen. It was the exact same scenario when Jordan had the ball for the final shot against Utah in game 6 of the 1998 finals. Where after he got past mid court he stopped and dribbled for a few seconds before making his move to take the game winning shot. Everyone on the Bulls cleared out and let Jordan go 1 on 1 with Russell. Scottie never got by his defender and blamed his teammates. A basket would of put the game away but after the shot clock expired the ball went to the Knicks and Patrick Ewing hit an amazing shot to tie the game with only 1.3 or 1.8 seconds remaining, can’t remember the exact time left but it left time for basically only a catch and shoot type scenario or a shot on Ehlo play where they can only take 1 dribble before shooting. Jordan actually took 2 dribbles but the play was designed to take only 1 dribble. Whether it’s 1 or 2 the Bulls didn’t have a player skilled enough to do that so Phil Jackson went with a play that worked in the regular season where Kukoc had a catch and shoot at the buzzer to win the game. Kukoc had successfully executed that play more than once in the regular season whether it was a game winner or at the end of a quarter. Also Scottie actually had not 1 but 2 chances at the end and didn’t make a shot either time. So he can gripe all he wants but even though he played great that season and did a tremendous job taking over as leader of the team. Probably did a better job at getting his teammates involved than Jordan did but he couldn’t close out games like Jordan could and was given 2 chances by Jackson but after he failed and the Bulls facing a potential 3-0 deficit Phil Jackson did HIS JOB and put the team in the best position to win. What Scottie can’t apparently get through his head is that Kukoc made the shot so Pippen has absolutely no argument what so ever especially when you consider he was given 2 chances to close out the game and failed both times.

Scottie mentioned Jordan being condescending and here is an example of what he means by that. Jordan left, and Scottie led the team to Game 7 against the eventual East Champion Knicks, in the semi's, while leading the team in every major statistical category. That feat could have been portrayed by Jordan as, "Scottie was so great that he took the Knicks to 7 without me and they were the East Champs that year'. Instead, Jordan portrayed it as, "I could see that they needed me". For all of the praise that Jordan gives Pippen, if you pay close attention, the vast majority of it is to reinforce Jordan himself and his own greatness. For example, "There would be no Jordan without Pippen" "I couldn't have done this without Scottie". It's rarely ever with a true focus on Pippen the individual, without inserting himself (Jordan) into it.

The 94 Bulls had the benefit of being an almost complete championship team without any pressure to win. They got to be the only multiple time champ that was still a hunter. It was a really nice achievement in a year where the East was WIDE OPEN...people forget the Knicks weren't the #1 seed...the Atlanta Hawks were (why they traded Dominique Wilkins for Danny Manning I'll never know). In 1995, reality set in. No Horace Grant, no Cartwright, no Paxson and they were a .500 team before MJ decided to comeback. That's where they were headed for good without MJ. No one was going to Chicago to play with Pippen.

And in that game, which is talked about in the last dance, he proofed it: he had several posessions designed for him in the last quarter, missed many of them. It was 100% the right decision by Phil Jackson to give Toni the ball for the last shoot. He was clutch all his life, proofed it in europe, proofed that saison on the Bulls several time..

From Scottie's perspective Kukoc was an NBA rookie, albeit a pretty good one, & Scottie had just come off of being a top contributor on 3 consecutive championship seasons for this team; & having an MVP caliber season. Its no secret Jerry Krause was invested in Kukoc & sang high praises a bit too much for MJ & Scotties liking & Kukoc came into the Bulls with the red carpet. Pip felt slighted that in a 1.8 second, tie game you make him TAKE THE BALL OUT. Scottie was a big reason the Bulls were where they were & you give the glory shot to the rookie? If you miss, you get OT, if you make it, you win - it was a no lose situation really. Pip felt he deserved the opportunity to at least be a threat. Kukoc was a sniper, made the shot and the rest is history but there's many perspectives - unfortunately Scottie has gone about things poorly.
