@@tjsbbi That was all Don Kirshner's deal. Could have wrecked Jimi's career. If my sister hadn't acted up I might have seen that show. We were excited get to see The Monkees, who we watched on TV. I was about 8, had no idea who Jimi Hendrix was until years later. But my sister pissed off my dad and he backed out of taking us.

Unfortunately, Jimi Hendrix died before I was old enough to see him in concert. I did see ZZ Top touring in the mid-70s when they wore cowboy boots and hats and clean shaven, different look. KANSAS from their bar room tours opened up for them since Blue Oyster Cult had to cancel.

Jimi was so humble and openly impressed by other guitarists. It's one of the reasons he continually grew as an artist.

Jimi Hendrix knows talent when he sees it. Jeff Beck was probably the best guitar player that ever lived. And I say that as a 50 year veteran guitar player. Every guitar player whose anybody knows that Jeff Beck was the king.

Billy was good friends with both Jimi and Jeff. Jeff and Jimi were also close. Jimi gave Jeff an Afghan hound called Pudding.
