You're the first person who's had the guts to react to this. In the 80's this was a MAJOR hit video and song. The guy in the video had a FANTASY for the girl. (played by a 21 dancer). Lines like "Rebel took a little child bride to tease" flips out people nowadays. But this was a time when people could appreciate it was a FANTASY and not seduction.

@@sexysadie2901 Ok, it was released in 1990. But it was an 80's sounding song. You can't compare that to Bush, Pearl Jam, STP and the like. The sound completely changed after 1990. This was a left-over from the 80's. (he probably wrote it in 1989).

"Rebel took a little child bride" is a reference to Jerry Lee Lewis. He was called "The Rebel" and married his 13 year old cousin ( the backlash essentially ended his career )

The original title of the song was "Rob the Cradle of Love" as in "Jailbait, Cradle Robber".... But since it was on a movie soundtrack the title had to be changed to market the song.

I just love Billy Idol and never got a cd of him until last year. But anyway the video features Betsy Lynn George as a teenager who tries to seduce a modest and mild-mannered businessman played by Joshua Townshend- Zellner. This song was recorded in 89 and released in 90.

Lovin' it! Was watching AC DC a short while before this and I highly, highly recommend AC DC- JAILBREAK (LIVE AT DONINGTON 8/17/91). They killed it and Angus was absolutely savage he even got a bit cheeky. This was an amazing concert performance, you won't regret it.

They had to make the video different because Billy had just been in a near fatal motorcycle accident and i he was still very busted up. The accident also cost him a bigger role in the Jim Morrison biopic The Doors. I believe he was originally supposed to play either Robby Krieger or John Densmore originally , but instead got a very bit part as a Doors roadie.

I think the point of the video is to portray a woman that is too hot to handle for us mere mortals, a woman only Billy Idol can handle. A stand-in for Billy himself really. In fact, this was after his motorcycle accident, which is why he's only filmed from above the waist.

No one would write a song like this today. You're right, the song is about jailbait. The line "burns like a ball on fire, the rebel took a little child bride" is a reference to Jerry Lee Lewis(Great Balls of Fire)taking a 13 year old bride(who was actually a cousin). It ruined his career. Watch out for jailbait guys....I guess I should give the same warning to female teachers. They seem to be the only women chasing under age guys.
