Hi everyone! Happy 2022 to y'all! For first time in KZfaq a complete version without speed issues and the complete songs: For years, this show has been well known among Billy Joel fans, not only for its vocal quality, but for its extensive repertoire and notable moments on stage. Originally it was thought that all the footage was from a single night, but thanks to different sources that assure it, we can deduce that they are two nights together. Unfortunately, there's no Audience Recording, no Alternative Soundboard to corroborate this, but it is assumed that around This Night the third show begins. The video was sourced by Hiro, many thanks to him for sharing a high quality copy (comes from a Scottish Broadcast). I've worked a few days to get a definitive version of the show, at least for now. The video was ajusted and the resolution was fixed. The audio has been equalized and adjusted to be more enjoyable. Please do not re-upload this video.

I think when he got divorced the first time and was dating models, he started to get his hair cleaned up and tamed. Especially once he was with Christie starting in like 83, his hair looked so good. And seeing her fix his hair in the Bridge to Russia doc makes me think she probably was always making sure he looked his best since she knew fashion after all. I dated a grunge musician once and I was always cutting and fixing his hair and eyebrows and picking out outfits. 😂

before we continue, let's talk abt what Mark and Billy are doing in this concert and how silly they are 1:30:40 - 1:30:46 i like how billy had to look behind him to make sure that Mark was the one who touched his back 😭 and here in Only The Good Die Young (yes i know Mark gets on the piano for a while, its literally the cover of Sideman: In Persuit Of The Next Gig) 1:44:57 - 1:45:23 i find the little dance Mark does adorable and i love how Billy with no shame whatsoever grabs Mark's shirt and tugs on it and then Mark says something after 'aww, she never cared for me' and im attempting to read his lips but im still just a girl watching a billy joel concert on 9 o'clock on a Saturday soooo anyway ty for coming to my Ted talk have a nice day and good job as always, matthew.

I used to watch this concert on VHS as a teenager, so it brings back lots of nostalgia and sweet memories, I seem to remember This Night and Scenes From An Italian Restaurant the most but all his classic songs are featured. He was at the peak of his performance here and his best songwriting was from the late 70's to the early/mid 80's. Thanks for the great upload!

Great enhanced video, I'm sure I have stereo enhance sound ... plus I have original VHS I recorded from TV back in 1984 ! With BBC intro from London :) but I'm sure this video quality is better. I remember listening to it in stereo on radio 1 at the time simultaneous broadcast but they stopped broadcasting on radio 1 I think after Siagon.

Thanks for this Matthew (and for your other recent releases). I recorded this concert from BBC TV at the time. The live version was very slightly longer than the one repeated on BBC a year later - I'm not sure which ones you've used. I must admit, though, I hadn't known that this was filmed over 2 nights. Are you sure about that? (To answer someone else's comment, it was definitely in Wembley Arena (- different to Wembley Stadium where he performed a couple of times in recent years)

Hello! Thanks for comment! - I have read a lot on various sites, in other videos, and even on pages stating that there are 2 shows. That confuses me a bit, so I need some proof to know what night it is. It is assumed that Paul Young appeared on June 6, and the 8 and 9 were recorded by the BBC. From what I read, the third night starts during This Night. Do you still have your recording? That could be key to confirm at once if it is the same date, or they are different dates.

I can tell you for certain that the first half was transmitted at 9.30pm on BBC1 on Friday 8th June, and simulcast on Radio 1 in stereo. I have a stereo cassette recording taken directly at that time. The 2nd half was transmitted at 8.10pm the following Tuesday 12th June, but this time with no stereo sound on radio. The two halves were transmitted again a year later (24 Jun and 1 July 1985 at 23:05) and neither time with stereo sound on that occasion. The question though is which actual concert this is (6th or 8th June). Given that the first transmission was at 9.30pm it would not have been the concert from that day transmitted live since the transmission start time is too late, but could potentially have been recorded earlier that same evening. Your footage here is from the original 1984 transmissions, because the reference to Liberty’s wife having a baby and some other general audience chat is not included in the edited repeats a year later.

@@dw-ow8kh Wembley is an area of North London about 40 minutes by tube from Central London. There is a 90,00 seater stadium and a completely separate 12,500 seater indoor arena nearby where this was filmed. It's not used so much now for bands as they go to the larger O2 arena but it's still going strong 40+ years after opening.

Matthew, it's ALL from June 8th. It's the SAME CONCERT. They are ALL wearing the same clothes throughout. What is difficult to understand about this ?

1. I can not say that it is from June 8, as I told you, I have no way to confirm it, I need a tape, a broadcast, or something that affirms it as such. 2. No matter the clothes, they can be different shows. During this period, Billy wore the same clothes. At the beginning of the year he wore a brown jacket, in early June a blue jacket, and at the end of the Tour a white jacket.

You're now even putting forward the notion that everyone wore the same clothes two nights running. It's embarrassing. You're really letting yourself down.

@@Jaxrus1 If you don't know about the band and the concerts, then I guess you don't know - They usually wear the same clothes two or three days in a row. And more if it is a Tour. It is difficult to talk about the audience, because it is not shown so clearly, and you will not realize that someone is the same person throughout the show. If you think it's June 8, that's fine with you. But not because you tell me, I will automatically believe you. I need some other source, some other take. Read above, that's a more subjective opinion. Maybe Yes it is June 8, but. Do you have something to check? The same case with Queen in Montreal 1981, two nights, same clothes, same songs, you would not know how to identify which show it is with the naked eye. That is what I am referring to. Also, there is no audience recording to verify.

@@Jaxrus1 if musicians know they're filming a concert, it's standard procedure to wear the same clothes every night so they can mix the footage from different nights and still maintain visual continuity.
