They are his last words because this was his last popular music album obviously, he said he wouldn't record another popular music album and was concentrating on his classical music, and indeed the classical album was superb too. Ahh Billy, Lullaby is so beautiful and awesome, still gets right to me, why did you have to play it in this video Where's the tissues folks?!

This song becomes even more moving to me after learning how his daughter Alexa overdosed a few years ago due to a recent breakup- not at all unlike her dad, who had done the same thing when he was quite young. All that joy and pain and love that they share...

Hey Bill! I went to your 'evening of questions and answers with Billy Joel at the University at Buffalo in 95 I think. I was there and someone asked you to play this song, Lullabye, but you would not do it. In New York State! But travel to Nuremburg Germany and you play it without anyone even asking??? That sticks in my craw man! I shook your hand that night. What is your deal man?

With a new album/music, comes touring, time away from home, promotion, etc. So much sacrifice then just putting it out there for people to hear. He writes all the time, for himself, for his own enjoyment, guaranteed.

Sage Martineau. A lucky find for you then, well done. We have Charity shops aplenty in the UK, for various charities, but don't have Goodwill. It was The River Of Dreams single and album, that made me fall in love with Billy, and then I bought the Piano Man, Koheupt, Storm Front and An Innocent Man albums and that cemented the love and respect. The Stranger, Street life Serenade, The Bridge, Glasshouses, The Nylon Curtain, Turnstiles, Songs In The Attic, 52nd Street and the Cold Spring Harbour albums didn't do it for me, just certain tracks from each. I bought his Fantasies and Delusions Album, and love it and the 2000 Years live album and 12 Gardens Live and have the My Life boxset from 2005. I have yet to buy the Live at Shea Stadium album or the album with Elton John, The Two Piano Men, or the USSR boxset that I'm after.

@@fay-amieaspen6046 I know that these things are subjective, but I think Turnstiles is his best album and overall a step up on his previous songwriting level. All of the earlier albums had their standout tracks and even the fillers were good but I just think every track on Turnstiles took him to another level.

Considering what happened to his father and grandfather in Germany, to hear him singing this lullaby of love and consolation to an audience in Nuremburg is something loaded with emotion and a transcedent nobility. Kol Ha Kavod Billy!!

Actually, those are only Rhett Butler's last words in "Gone With the Wind." The film ends with Scarlet O'Hara saying, ""Tara! Home. I'll go home, and I'll think of some way to get him back! After all, tomorrow is another day!"

And... 6 years after you made this comment, and 31 years after "Famous Last Words," we got one new classic Billy Joel song. The video was just released today, and you see him turning the page in his notebook from the "Famous Last Words" lyrics... after 3 decades.

The last words in Gone With The Wind were Scarlett O'Hara's - "After all, tomorrow is another day." However, I understand what Billy is saying, and yet, tomorrow is another day. And it was - the song "All My Life," released in 2007, makes my eyes misty - his song to his wife perfectly says what I want to say to my new-ish (hat tip to George Anthony Devolder Santos LOL) wife - now almost 3 years. It is a gem of a song.

I understand it's his choice to stop put out new songs, but I **DON'T** understand how an artist just decides, one day, 'I'm going to stop creating". I've heard so many song writers say a song came to them in a dream, or they were inspired and they HAD TO write it down, or a life event made them need to say something. When the inspiration comes---how does he ignore it? How does he just shut it off?

I’ve heard Billy asked if he feels any pressure to write a song for his current wife since he wrote for the previous ones. He said he did a little. If he isn’t inspired by his family to write lyrics I don’t know what would inspire him. If song writing (i.e. lyrics) was really as hard for him as he claims I don’t blame him for choosing happiness and a less stressful life. He was asked a couple of years ago what his favorite decade in his career was and he answered this one. While I miss hearing new music that can touch my soul, I’m happy the creator has found his peace. Just glad he continues to perform.
