It's like he sat down to practice but every half a bar he remembered something extremely annoying his boss at work did to him earlier.

First time I saw Billy live I was getting this strange feeling like "eek... is he... is gonna do any error in this song?", but that, man, is long time gone! I am pretty sure songs like "Weekend Sex Change" made it back to setlist thanks to him!

When I saw Dillinger in 2009 everyone in the crowd looked at the new drummer like ??? By the end of the set were all were smiling. This video reminds me how much a new drummer can change something for the good. Kudos!

I cant remember the year, but early 00's, i had no money so i couldn't go to the Dillinger's show opening for SOAD and clawfinger. I was completely hyped with TDEP at the time. I asked my friends how was the show and everyone told me it was rubbish, couldn't understand a word and a beat, waste of time Bla Bla... I was like "dudes, you just Saw the biggest act in the planet and you didn't even know it. Maybe you guys are a waste of time".

omg i could watch this video the whole day! billy rules
@songphilosopher263110 жыл бұрын
Jesus, as in-fucking-same as Dillinger is, you would think that kit would be three times as huge. Don't get me wrong, I love huge kits with the double bass and ten different cymbals as much as the next guy or gal. More room to expand and add flavor to your sound. But, damn, Billy Rymer shows you right here that you don't need a big kit to go wild. Awesome video, man.
@joshporter520510 жыл бұрын
He may limit himself a bit in what he puts in his kit, but he definitely makes up for it by wringing everything he can out of his kit. Seriously... just grabbing his kit and choking the ever-fucking life out of it! There are drummers who can do lots of interesting stuff because they have developed the skill to use a massive kit and then there are drummers who can do lots of interesting stuff because they have developed the skill to use a limited assortment of options for all they are worth..... and then there are folks who have done both, of course. and in the end.. all of them are interesting, though I personally find guys like Billy more interesting and downright hypnotic to watch and listen to.
@MagnumDB6 жыл бұрын
He has a double bass pedal... but yeah, you don't need much if you know how to use what you have. The amount of variations in drum/cymbal sounds doesn't have to be so huge when you already have a huge variety of ways to play the limited amount of options you have.

Or a guy who gets 8 hours worth of drumming packed down into this song 😂 the drums are so busy. That's why I love this music though. One of the few genres where drums can be super busy.

I love how every piece of his kit doesn't match because they get fucking wrecked live. I wish Tama just threw Starclassics at me haha.
@joshporter520510 жыл бұрын
Well, when you play like that.... There is a video of Ben's equipment rundown and the guy seriously has guitars with the wireless built inside so there is no cable or box on his strap and he has a mechanical system that keeps his guitar in tune no matter what. These guys are all utter beasts when it comes to live shows. In-fucking-sane.
@GritsNDesu10 жыл бұрын
Josh Porter Actually upon further inspection I think he plays Silverstars. I just can't imagine Tama being ok with giving him a new Starclassic every month.
@1dudecrush9 жыл бұрын
GritsNDesu I think its a silverstar bass drum with starclassic toms. In the studio, it's not unheard of to mix and match drums to get the sound you're looking for. Billy also advocated the silverstar line, but live I think he uses a starclassic when he can. ...heaven forbid the singer see him drumming though. He'll wreck his shit on the spot. Cuz fuck drums. I'd be scared.
