What a great interpretation of The Independents' 1972 single, from Billy's 1991 "Soul of the Man" album. This greatly reminds me "Unaddressed Letter" by Dave Baby Cortez. I am just seeing this , just 3 months after Billy's untimely passing, but I am sure Chuck Jackson and The Independents would be greatly impressed with his version!
