I was right there. I had walked down to get water after the second set. I was there at the left side of the stage as he returned to encore. Security let me step in closer. I was about 30 feet away as he sang, without no one else around. I had tears in my eyes. You could feel the vibration and witness the silence at that moment at Red Rocks.

First heard Doc sing ’Am I Born to Die’’ in 78 at Gerties in greenwich village He was there with Merle and T Michael Coleman and he also sang it as the first encore on along night of fst picking.. To hear Billy own in the same way 44 years later was as if to die and go to heaven for 15 minutes.... My heart flies today. With Doc and Billy the soul brothers of flat picking.

“Fathers, do not let your sons forget Do not let your sons forget where their essence was just formed, when their bodies were most vulnerable, they were protected by the womb of a woman. It IS a great Doc Watson tribute, but the song is much older--it's a Charles Wesley hymn from the 18th century.

Yeah I prefer the actual southerners not the grifters like billy or molly tuttle.
Lol. You are looking at a real live American legend. There will always be detractors, Billy is authentic as it gets. Pushing boundaries, honoring the foundations. Bill is carrying the torch for us
@zb64502 жыл бұрын
@@hankhill4151 doesn't matter in the least where your from. Only the art matters, that's why it's boundary dissolving and transcendent. Stop limiting yourselves on what's possible, give the man credit and keep the negativity for yourself
@StephenS-20242 жыл бұрын
@@zb6450 i wasn't " detracting " per se, just saying I think his music is TOO derivative , in my opinion. ( and I'm fairly certain he'd not care for mine. Music or opinion. Haha. )

I’m not happy that Doc is accredited for Idumea. He sang it. He didn’t write it.
