Saw Duane play with Eric Steckel at Jacksonville Beach (FL) in 2006. Both of them were 15 at the time if I remember correctly. Long time ago but I remember those cats could flat out play!! Glad to see Duane is in good company with BMFS...

A new music genre was created this night. "Bluegrass Thrash". Bringing bluegrass to the world!!! Turned into a Grateful Dead tune at the end. Billy the Kid is on Fire.

I saw a band called Native Howl open for Black Label Society. They claimed to be the inventors of "thrashgrass". They mashed Metallica and Soggy Bottom Boys for Harvester of Constant Sorrow 😂. It was fun, but honestly pretty bad

Again, nice capture. Last year, they opened for them...this year they WERE them;-). Plus, Billy kinda looks a bit like Jimmy... And what i loved about this song, as well as the show in general, was they played different instruments than their regular format... BMFF thrashing a strat? Awesome!

Ive been trying to play this song live several times now myself and there is always some part of it that makes it a glorious shtshow for me. Either way, i know so well that of which you dealt with and i applaud you "not" smashing the hell out of your custom 24. Lmao ive got a 2020 10top floyd in gray black that im selling myself. Ive just never been able to bond with it since ive had it. Lmao. Much love and respect Billy. Ive been a fan since i saw you duet with a guy on woodsongs oldtime radio hour. Never forgot your name since that day! And now ive met your buddy CoryGri........ lol. So cool to talk witb him about how much i love your playjng! A great effort by all of you and i hope you get to do it again! Its a great Halloween song!!!!

This is great because you can tell that even sometimes the greatest performers and stage techs have their mishaps. It still sounds great. But you can tell there is a point where billy hits a pedal and it doesn't register properly, at least at the designated levels set, his tech gets to work, there's a bit of panic but it all comes through. My take is they don't deal with a full electric setup very often so it presented some new hurdles. They still recouped wonderfully and I applaud them for doing so. But this just goes to show the 6 p's . Prior planning prevents piss poor performance. Not that this is is piss poor by any means. It's still great but you can tell there is a tremendous amount of frustration from billy, which is hilarious because of his costume, but it's real. His sound drops tremendously immediately after the intro and clicking one pedal. Someone on the tech side fucked this one up big time. Still a great watch though.

Wow!! A rare tech fuck up. Right around the 50 second mark, Billy's pedal board fails him. Just as he is about to launch into the BIG sound, can't get the distortion he wants (probably a Tube Screamer pedal??). I thought he was gonna smash his axe when he took it off. Then the looks he is giving his tech are pure disgust. 🤬 I know that "metal" is quite easy for Billy to play, so it must've been especially frustrating that he couldn't do such an iconic song properly. I'm not sure why he didn't just go "old school" and Gain the shit out of his amp. Guess I gotta watch a "rig rundown" now of what Billy keeps on stage.

@CO-BillyMahoney I have tons of question on the equipment failure. The guitar tech should have picked up on the issue immediately. Billy is obviously having trouble with the pedal at 0:50, then signals tech 1:06 and again 1:16 . Then takes guitar off! 1:31. He is asking for some assistance for sure. Tech 2:12 with new cord 🤦‍♂️ Ok from here on I have questions 4:36 Billy realizes what ? Is he going to fix something? 5:14 Where has billy gone? 5:43 does the tech pick up the same guitar and put it back on stand? 6:48 have we fixed the issue or no? I’m guessing not 7:34 is this a new tube screamer pedal? Tia

@@ryanhofsheier4857 Unless Billy discusses it (unlikely), I doubt we will ever know WTF happened. I think Billy was trying to express "It ain't the guitar cable, it's the pedal!", and the final appearance by the tech at the pedal board was just to check the physical connections. I never heard any effect chain kick in; you can see (I think around 2:50) Billy is very obviously showing his crew "Look, I'm doing the bend / strum - Nothing, no whistle scream!" Around 4:00 he rolls his Vol and Tone knobs to max and decides to just keep gutting it out. I think the Jerry-style noodling at the very end was the pro that Billy is recognizing "I have 10,000+ people celebrating, this technical difficulty is trivial , so I'm gonna put this behind me at least for for now, go the my happy place, and carry on riding the wave of love washing over this stage." The only other unusual sound, if you listen closely, is a few crew members checking Notes on their phones to see if their resumés are reasonably up to date, and if they still have Indeed and LinkedIn apps on their phones. 😅

@@CO-BillyMahoney thanks for the info, tough situation for everyone. I still like it a lot, it had lots of issues but still sounds good. Issues like this are rare and it makes me thankful you don’t see it more in concerts. Where did Billy go is what I want to know! 👻

He is a guitar g-d, so it's a moot point. Using your logic, he shoulda used a Strat for Voodoo Child because the ghosts of Hendrix/SRV would be pissed (personally, i think he shoulda, but it sounded great no matter what)....
