Seeing an Aged Billy West really makes me sad that all beloved VAs will just be gone one day and the characters they brought to life, while will have new souls eventually. Will have an empty place in all the hearts that grew up listening to them.

True, but also funny to say since he was already Ren's second VA. I believe Stimpy's voice is also an imitation of Larry Fine from the Three Stooges. It's the circle of life.

As a voice actor ages, they usually lose the voice of the characters they play (Julie Kavner’s Marge Simpson or John K’s Ren). Billy West’s aging however, actually helped improve his Ren voice- and I wonder if there have ever been another example of this.

They say Billy took over as the voice of the Looney Tunes characters after Mel Blanc (the original voice actor) died. He certainly has the talent for it.

Oh how wholesome this is everytime I hear Billy's voice weather It's doug funny, Philip J Fry, Or stimpy or skeeter and rancid rabbit from catdog etc he always manages to make me smile I love Billy west he's an amazing talented actor and a great sweet person with a heart of gold we gotta cherish these actors along with Tom Kenny, Dan. P, Carlos the voice of Rocko, Mr Crocker, Winslow, and Walden, and one of the characters off of Mucha lucha because we never know

Yeah, maybe because since Billy's getting old, his Stimpy voice is not as energetic as he used to be when Ren and Stimpy was a big thing back then. That's what happens when you start to age. Your voice ages. At least he can still do Ren unlike John.

@@teddybeer6206 Yeah, I just found this out literally 5 minutes ago. I had no idea. But there is a video where he was a guest on Pen and Teller's podcast and voiced all the characters he played, and he did both Doug Funny and Roger Klotz. Impressive. 🤗

Billy west may not have fond memories of working on Ren and Stimpy due to John Kricfalusi being a huge jerk to him and everyone else who worked on it, but even after 30 years, he still does their voices so well.

I do appreciate that West made peace with the show and the iconic duo. It helps that John K's antics got exposed and no one's treating the Games Animation staff like "traitors" anymore.

@@krooga_ Well, it's good that Billy is doing Ren & Stimpy again for the reboot, whenever it will come out. It's still in development hell as far as I know. Billy may voice Ren & Stimpy again, but he will never speak to John K. ever again if his mind is set to it. John really pissed Billy off back in 2001 with his pranks. It's shocking to see this episode today with Howard Stern and Robin Quivers yukking it up as John brings up references of Robin Byrd and Katie Rice for the very first time to the shock of his fans. Howie used the term "shock humor" too literally, as some of his past shows don't age too well 20 years later. Howie is now a far-left Democrat and an anti-Trump hater. The fact that John is not involved with this Ren & Stimpy reboot is the very reason that Billy decided to do the voice overs again.

Even after getting his wish of John K. fired fulfilled, Billy West is still hurt and traumatized. What’s even more salt in the wound, both co-stars had abusive fathers growing up, and it really wasn’t fair for Billy to suffer more of that from John.

Yeah, Billy West said something about that when I visited him at a convention (I had no idea things were that bad when he worked with John K...read up on him later and yeah...I see what Mr. West means...and I was just scratching the surface..boy have I been living under a rock, I'm kinda embarrassed that I didn't know[In my 30s, you think I would know] >///>)

Yeah, when John K was fired after Season 2 of the original show, Billy West took the role of Ren from Season 3 to Season 5. And he also will be voicing the two in the reboot. Though I wish the young writers of the reboot weren't so ageist and sexist towards Bob Camp, Bill Wray, and Jim Gomez, in fact those three left development of the reboot due to that reason leaving Billy West as the only guy from the OG show involved with the production.

Billy West once came to Australia where I live. I wanted to meet him and have his autograph on my Ren and Stimpy DVD box set but my dad said, "There will be lots of people to see him. Besides do you really think he signs autographs for free? He might want money for it." So then I decided not to see West. Sad though. :(

Apparently Billy was set to do both characters originally but John decided instead that Billy would on!y did Stimpy. However, during season 2 while John was being fired Billy did some scenes as Ren for a few episodes before assuming the role full time for season 3 of the original series and other then the Adult Party series has done both the voices since.

He got better as Ren as he went on (he was just bad as him in his first episodes) but I'll always prefer John K as Ren. Billy never quite captured Ren's insanity quite like John. It just felt more natural from him.

When they moved the Ren & stimpy show to the spike Network and then it became way adult with homosexuality among other things I can't quite remember if Billy West was voiceover in for it and if so what did he really think about them changing the subject matter so drastically if I were him I wouldn't have wanted to change the formula that much or going that direction I really was disturbed by that reboot

Think they tried to without John being part of it and people still complained saying it will bring back trauma to people hurt by John. Which I’ll be honest here, that sound so puns really sad but… 1, it’s a cartoon, and 2 it wasn’t to have John.K on it so no reason to associate him. in fact Bob Camp was technically the guy that got the 90s original to run smoothly while John had his odd ideas and orders but didn’t too much in terms on the “on board” production so to speak.
