Billy Whitehurst was known as the Hardest Man in Football in the 1980's and 1990's.
It was a different era for football, and there were a lot of tough men on the pitch. Billy Whitehurst was known as the Toughest.
Billy was a dangerous footballer , who really did strike fear in to his opposition.
Billy would have illegal Bare Knuckle fights for money , and was involved in numerous bar room brawls.
Unapologetic in his actions, he was a footballer , and a man of a different era.

Lifting is so good for your mental strength,well done on making a start. Forget about what you could lift and forget about what others are lifting. Try a weight that lets you do 15- 25 reps and push it till your insides drop out! Matt is a class act! I remember watching him playing for Newcastle, great tough player 💪 I remember watching him in a Derby against tge mackems at St James Park. He went in for a challenge with there centre half and absolutely flattened him , the centre half kept away from him the rest of the game , he was like a train brilliant memories 👏

Brilliant video Matty. Been waiting for a book about Billy for a long time. I even contacted the guy who was writing it. So glad to see they finaly got it out. Will be buying that after typing this. Matty. Sorry to hear youve not been 100% mate. You gave me some kind words after commenting that your videos were one of the things keeping me going through some sad times recently. The lowest ive ever been. Your kind words gave me a big boost. Thank you. Id never have thought I could get that low, I now realise how crap it is when people get like this. In reality I still am going through it, but coping day to day. Family and friends were a great help when I let them be, but little wins make you smile, like watching your content on here. So from me to you, you have my heartfelt thanks. Something stuck with me when watching Vinnie in his series recently after talking about his loss. He said you have to 'wake up punching'. Its all we can do sometimes. You take care of yourself. We certainly care about you Matty. Top man you are.

I'm a Blade from Sheffield Matt, Billy was a hard player, a proper south yorkshireman. Motivation's hard to find when you turn 50, I'm 56 now, I've grafted hard on the roads and buildings till a few years ago, my body tells me so aswell! Hang in there, when you're down you're learning, growing stronger...even though it dunt feel like it at the time.

Stay strong John, I am Approaching 63 and make dsily time to do the bread and butter push ups and pull ups and throw some leather on the heavy bag, it really helps me mentally as well as physically. Keep going brother, keep going 🥊

Great video, I love the sport/ hardman ones. Really good to see you back out in the wild spaces again, I did genuinely worry that something was not right, I think we share a very similar set of problems. Sometimes it is too easy to just let yourself slip back so I do empathise with you on that one. One step at a time mate and take it easy.

Hi Matt not heard that but it’s possible. Friendly enough Billy and popular landlord but not someone to get on the wrong side of. Heard Billy had a hold of Francis Joseph who had been a bit of a bully at Bramall Lane under Billy arrived. That Wednesday lad who he KO’d is no longer with us sadly. All the best !

Big Billy...I'll never forget him...We were apprentices at Benwell the old training ground and believe me it was freezing cold in the winter...Billy used to come out in a short sleeved T-shirt...Top man he was....

Let me tell you a (maybe boring?) little story about Billy, from someone who's been sat next to him in the Tigers players' lounge on numerous occasions. I was driving down Priory Road in Hull in the mid 80's and saw a big bloke on the pavement beside the road running alongside a very young girl (read his daughter) on her first bike, laughing and playing with her as a good dad should. So, let's stop for a moment and also think about Big Bill as a dad, a husband and from every time I had the pleasure of being in his company, an utterly wonderful human being. God bless ya Billy.

I remember Billy playing for us (Hull), one of my favourites along with when Marwood use to put crosses on his napper. But my fondest memory, was the season he put three keepers out in one season 💪. Proper hard man, no way would he get away with it in today's game
