When I get home I chuck unused bait (everything other than crabs) in a tupperware pot and chop it all up into chunks with scissors, and put it in the freezer. When there's a decent amount and a good mixture of bait, i make bait sausages using Fox Arma-mesh. Works a treat👌

@@Billyfishing_watch Always meant to ask, does the hair method on the circle hooks work better with frozen worms? The blow lug I get in the summer can be upwards of 8 inches long, and that's a big hair I'd need :)
@Billyfishing_watch11 ай бұрын
As it goes Nigel, the worms I get are just as big, and it is part of the reason why I freeze them. No bull, but after freezing, they fish better than fresh. I will link the processing video, if you use them fresh, gut them first and cut them in half, they are just too big for flatfish. 👍

Seeing all the flounder fishing action here makes me wonder if these methods would be effective over here in Atlantic Canada. In Nova Scotia, I found that the flounder situation is not as good as in previous years, as in there just doesn't seem to be as many fish about. I remember fishing as a kid around Halifax and flounder would be a pretty common sight (mostly as by catch), and most were decent sizes too. however in recent years flounder fishing with "conventional" methods (little hook with a bit of weight and tipped with a mussel) just hasn't been working for me. the general rule to finding fish for the longest time was "if you find the clam beds, you'll find the flounder" but spots that previously produced fish are mostly empty now. That being said, to the north in Newfoundland, this year there has been a lot of them around, and many are what by European standards you may call monster's. you know you are on some serious flounder when you are out jigging for cod, and the flounder considers an 80 gram jig potential food. Maybe the next time I go for a visit ill take my beach rod and see if i can catch a new PB. Anyways thank you for the good work, cheers.
@Billyfishing_watch11 ай бұрын
Hi bud. I am not sure they are the same fish. In the US they have flounder, but they are a cousin of the halibut. If it is the same fish as the US, you can use soft plastics, metal lures or fish bait. I think the fish we have are called sole, over your side. But if they are the same fish, I'm sure you will have no trouble with this method. It is great to hear about your fishing experiences over the other side of the Atlantic. Thanks brother, see you on the beach 😁👌
@user-ll9rw5qu7u11 ай бұрын
I'm not sure, we just always called them flounder. I think the other term for the species I'm talking about is "Winter Flounder" but there are other species too, either way, a fish is a fish when its on the end of your line. Thank you for the reply and the extra knowledge.

HeyBilly, great stuff thank you. One question, how does the fish know top or bottom of the bait?
@Billyfishing_watch11 ай бұрын
Hi bud. Firstly, fish feed by the use of vacuum, and when the bait is sucked into the mouth it will take the course of least resistance. Ie bait first, not hook and line. Secondly, they tend to feed nose into current. So the bait will be presented bait first and not hook first.
