Lyrics:
Anthony works in the grocery store
Savin' his pennies for some day
Mama Leone left a note on the door,
She said,
'Sonny, move out to the country.'
Oh but workin' too hard can give you a heart attack
You oughta know by now
Who needs a house out in Hackensack?
Is that all you get for your money?
And it seems such a waste of time
If that's what it's all about
Mama, if that's movin' up then I'm movin' out.
Billy Joel's official KZfaq channel features music videos, live performances, interviews, TV appearances and more. Although the album is older than I am, I still have the original vinyl. All credit to my father (a pianist himself) for introducing me to Billy Joel and for the opportunity to see him in concert. I was a teenager unashamed of going places with my parents, and I smiled and clapped just as much as my dad. Miss him, this album is easily one of Joel's best.

Growing up in an Italian family in Brooklyn this song came out right when the “successful” in my family were moving to Jersey. There were also more painful things happening within the family. This song captured that inner knowing that just making good $$ was never going to be enough for me… I was going to have to leave home and ultimately the East Coast to find out what else was really important in my life. What a great song.. I just shared it w/ my daughter.. she’s at that age when the emptiness of school and societal expectations is something she’s grappling with. Good songwriting is one of the most essential forms of human creativity. Thanks BJ!

I think there’s definitely an element of the Led Zepp approach in songs like Heartbreaker as far as the powerful guitar and bass in unison. Even the tone of the riff reminds me of LZ’s Heartbreaker. No surprise, as I believe Billy was a big Zepp fan. Great taste. 🤘

This Billy is like that first date, that first love, that never leaves you. He moves out but always manages to pop up again with that sweet fragrance of the good old times he's given you, almost 50 years! His music is so damn close to the working class, so down to earth and so refined. His lyrics are authentic poems woven with simple words and common situations, performed with an unforgettable energy and a tremendous talent. I mean, how can you do art with normal ingredients for such a long time without failing. He's got his ups and downs, made his mistakes like we all have and who cares if that guy next door made songs like this! I wish there's Billy for many years! Thanks man.
