I've said it before and I'll say it again. the story of this song is amazing. A man who has nothing left to lose, of no value to a society that rejects him, manages to find something that he can create to give back to the community that once shunned him. it is a truly touching sentiment and one that inspires even after all these years, I just hope it continues to do so

I doubt that premise, just by taking a closer look at the lyrics. A Person's "stumbling through a Wreckage, rusted from the Rain", wich is basically a broken up Relationship. The Person's remembering all the good Times, they've had together, wich is stated through Lines like "You've hung me like a Picture, now I'm just a frame; I used to be Your Lapdog, now I'm just a Stray", while at the same Time admitting, that all of this is meaningless now, since the Relationship violently got broken up for some Reason, stated through Lines like "there's nothing left to salvage, no one left to blame" and "My bitter heart is pumping oil into my veins; I'm nothing but a tin man, don't feel any pain". At the same Time, the Person is realizing, that he/she only was used by his/her Partner for his/her own egocentric Need of Comfort, wich is also stated through Lines like "shackled in the Graveyard, left here to decay" as well as the whole refrain "Go on, crush me like a flower, Rusted from the rain; Come on, strip me of my power, beat me with your chains; And if I'm the king of cowards, You're the queen of pain"; the refrain is also established as the last far cry of rebellion against the long gone toxic partner, as the Person desperately tries to get out of it's dark state of mind just to get back on track, still fighting with the bleeding of it's own broken heart. To me, it's more a Story about the bitterness and self-destructive nature of toxic relationships & maybe even engagements also could've been included here.

Such a hidden Canadian gem of a band. Probably some of the most powerful lyrics I've ever heard. Really wish they would have gotten the recognition they deserve. Saint veronika is also an amazing song (and "veronika decides to die" is an amazing book)

When this song first came out I was six years old. This is unquestionably, undoubtedly, the song of my childhood. I really have to pat myself on the back for coming back… for the 10 year god-damn anniversary. I almost missed it, we were close. Man I really did cut the timing close. But anyway, this song still absolutely slaps 10 years later, and will continue to be great for the next 10 years.

I've been listening for a few weeks and I'm hooked. Bought all their albums in the meantime and can't stop listening! Although funny thing is I remember them from when Fallen Leaves was a big hit and at the time I thought "This is okay but nothing spectacular." I guess I wasn't musically mature enough for them!

"these guys" are catching fire in the mainstream now - 20 years after they started, rocking concerts + crowds, and just plain getting better, and bigger, and better again. If the latest song you love is a few years old...how excellent sounding do you think their next album is going to be?? Probably pretty darn good! I'm glad you listened to them - they totally rock and grow on you! (but in a cool punk-ish way!)

And the best thing, they are still the same regular guys as they where when they started, their is no ego in the band. They are all about the music and enjoying making it, and the seeing the fans enjoying it.

It is strange that this is one of the highest viewed Billy Talent songs... I feel like (maybe eventually) that after 2020 Reckless Paradise really deserves to be up there as one of the most relevant songs of the year! o.O
