Oh, Billy, this whole video/song is 100% satire. At the time she wrote this she was being depicted as a ridiculous "serial-dater" and someone even said she was "going through guys like a train"... she's said that she was really sad and hurt by that, but she thought the narrative of it was kind of interesting so she wrote a song from the perspective of that character. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Basically from the beginning of her career until 2016-ish her whole persona was that she dated a lot of guys and wrote songs about all her exes. This was the time when people stopped thinking that was cute, sweet, and honest (like they did at the beginning when she was younger) and her persona became the crazy ex who can’t keep a man and dates as many famous guys as possible so she could write songs about them

I wasn’t a fan of Swift before this song because I thought she was just some typical teen pop star who capitalized on writing about her (failed) romances. The one in the story itself, like she’s turning the tables on her boyfriend. The jab at the media portrayal of her- she’s taking the things they say about her, turning it into art and throwing it back in their face.
