Bilstein 5100 Front Lift and Strut Installation on a Toyota FJ Cruiser

FJ Cruiser gets new Bilstein 5100 struts set on the 4th position for 2.5 inches of lift. This process should work for other toyota trucks as well like the Forerunner. No spring compressor is used but instead, the car itself acts as the compressor.

It did go pretty smoothly for the installation. Getting the top nut off was a pain, though! 😂

I got a spring compressor from Herp-a-derp Freight for around $100. Out of paranoia I took the tension off while I sorted the parts together but it works just fine. I’m just here to see how in the hell he gets the mounts back into the lower control arm…

@@QuantiQualification As far as I could tell it’s somewhat robust. It’s a scissor design with a screw that has square cut threads like a vice. As for getting the assemblies back in, a ratchet strap under the body and hooked into the frame works wonders when paired with a crowbar. Got it all done yesterday and it rides beautifully now.
