Bimal Shahi '25 reflects on a winter break opportunity afforded by Davidson to travel throughout Italy while studying art, culture and history. Bimal is a studio art and economics double major from Dolpa, Nepal.
In his own words: "I really liked the community at Davidson college. I was very impressed by how Davidson welcomes students and faculties from diverse backgrounds and creates a safe and welcoming environment for everybody. With a small and respectful community, I knew I'd have the opportunity to form lifelong friendships and valuable relationships with my classmates, professors, and faculty members. The Honor Code was something that stood out to me about Davidson as integrity and honesty have always been important parts of my life in terms of building trust and bonds with others. Davidson's liberal arts education, financial aid, grants, and various opportunities for Davidson college students' growth were incredible. I was very excited about a grant called "Meet My World," which would be allowed me to take one of my American friends to my hometown and have Davidson cover all of the expenses. As a result, I couldn't be more excited to join a community like Davidson, where everything I've ever wanted is right here."
