Interesting to see that You guys collect Glass on its own still! Most councils have reverted to mixing it in with the plastics and metals. Great work 👍

Hi billy we have Kerbside recycling grey boxes for our glass recycling in Southhampton like you lads we have 3 man crews the tip into 240 wheelie bins they walk round with then tip into the wagon when full the flats have communal bins for their glass we also have bell shaped bottle banks sited in various locations around the city another great video by the way keep em coming 😀

Cheers, it's always interesting to hear how other councils do their bin collections, they always seem to be slightly different. Our trucks are always 3 man crews ,unless it's commercial or food waste, then it's a 2 man crew . Chip vans are usually just one guy out on his own

Another brilliant video mate, loved seeing a glass collection. I find it strange that they use a 26t truck on glass but only use a 18t truck on trade waste
@billythebintruckdriver3952
@billythebintruckdriver3952 Жыл бұрын
Cheers 👍 Yes you have a point lol, I could certainly have fitted my glass route on an 18t truck no problems. It's probably just that the same crew of guys drive the same truck whether it's blue, cardboard, general or glass. If your a driver with his own run you have the same loaders and the same truck all the time

Defiantly loved seeing the glass run. There noisy, hey. My council has recently started a curbside Glass recycling service, using 120L bins, collected every 4 weeks. Our service stated on July 1 2023, so still fairly new. How often is glass collected here? Most of the things you said are the same here, Glass is the easiest run, not everyone having a bin out. I find it interesting they use a 26t on glass, I would have thought they could do it on a smaller truck, we currently have a 29m3 truck doing on glass, but they could defiantly do it on a 22m3.

Cheers for your comment, our glass is once a month, and ye it's definitely the easiest of all the bin weeks. I think I've only ever put mine out about 3 times since I've had it! We don't have many smaller 18ton trucks,most of our fleet are 26 tonners so we're kinda forced to use them for the glass but ye we could definitely fit any of the runs on a smaller truck. It is very noisy,I'm glad I'm not a loader lol

Ye I could believe it might do that ,I personally don't think the trucks we have are suited to doing glass, iv seen them struggle to lift the back end as there is too much glass still in the hopper
@ChakatNightspark
@ChakatNightspark Жыл бұрын
The way it is done here, is the truck plate is towards the entrance, even if the glass can't be crushed. as the back gets filled the plate slides further back and the crushing part pushes the glass towards the back. So as Much as Possible gets inside. But, we got new Trucks recently, so the bins are just rolled up and lifted up and tilted so the glass goes in from the top. Instead of having someone wheel the bins to the back and lift them up and dumps them. So instead of 3 to 4 guys on a truck. It is now just One person that does it all. Sadly about 400 people lost their Job due to the New trucks. We actually got a price increase on are Garbage bills. So in the End, 400 ppl without jobs, we now pay more on our bills. Garbage Company Makes same amount of Money or More now.

It's always Interesting to hear how other people do the same Job but in a completely different way., The top loader system sounds pretty cool to use but it's bad news about about the job losses 😞 I think we Will unfortunately see more job losses within the industry as we move toward artificial intelligence,not sure when it will happen but it will as the transport industry is one of the biggest employers in the world I think.

@@billythebintruckdriver3952 Oh poo. I might as well tear up my application form, then. I wasn't joining for the money, you understand. I was hoping to join for the "perks". Just push the ejector plate to the front of the vehicle, and I might survive for hours. Hopefully I can try the scoop of a Geesink Vulture and the auger of a Rotopress. I can hide inside two 1100 litre shiny black polythene bin liners, in amongst the other black bags in an 1100 litre bin. My record to date is 6 hours inside a commercial bin. I would do more, if it was not for the leg cramps - sitting motionless for 6 hours. Some bins get locked though. Oops ! Hope the bin lorry is on time. The bin might be heavier than normal. But there is nothing to see here. Just rubbish awaiting compaction and disposal. There are loads of us, that would pay good money for a ride.
