I've recently gone through a re-discovery of Bing Crosby and I loe watching how honest and informational he is in interviews such as this. I think it's interesting that he begins the interview saying that his show is not doing good business. I was in New York at the time he was at the Uris and I regret that I did not go to this show. I later became a HUGE fan of Rosemary Clooney and saw her at least 5 times in various venues around NYC.

I am taken back by not only this wonderfully rare and long interview with Bing, but just how stunningly attractive and intelligent of a lady Rise' Stevens was here even in the 1970's, so many decades after appearing as Bing's co-star in the movie "Going My Way" in 1942. I just learned this talented opera singer and actress was still alive even in 2013, when Rise' passed just before her 100th birthday. This was truly a great generation.

Katheryn was a doll. You can call Bing lucky when it came to her! Nice interview. Host did a fine job with very educated and knowledgeable questions.

Excellent interview session Bill Boggs had with Bing Crosby. Bing was so honest and forth coming. An honest and humble human being with a most remarkable talent. Bing was a natural talent and he should be remembered with high regard and respect! Miss you dear Bingle but you legacy lives on through the ages. Where the blue of the night meets the gold of the day, there will always be Bing ba ba ba YAY!

What a marvelous show of thoroughly engaging questions and answers. Bravo Bill. I look forward to digging into more of your archives. Growing up on the SF peninsula, the Crosbys were like our royal family. But they were terrific, salt of the earth folks. That era seems rather bygone and not repeatable in this fast paced and superficial society. Maybe there'll be a resurgence in small venue theater for music and acting. I'm doing my part with a one man show of 15 monologues sometime in the spring of '22. Feels anachronistic but it's sincere with plenty of reverence for the craft.

That’s so sad that his show wasn’t successful-he was such a legend and still sounded great! Plus, Rosemary Clooney was with him! He died less than a year later. I’ll bet a lot of New Yorkers were sorry after he died.

Interesting that not long after this, Bing and the whole show went to the Palladium in London and it was a smash.

My 21 year old had no clue who this guy is he is all but forgotten I was hoping that this guy would ask old Bing about Jerry Lewis....
@wodgerdog6466 жыл бұрын
There is no way that Bing has been forgotten, maybe the light has dimmed a bit, but he is still very well known and popular. As for Jerry Lewis I haven't read anywhere that Bing made any kind of comment about him, negative or otherwise. I have heard Bing's wife talk about Mr. Lewis in an interview and she was very nice about him and as she was Bing's most staunch and loyal supporter over the years since his passing, I think if Bing had of had any negativity towards Jerry she wouldn't have been so complimentary and lovely.

Bing obviously was there to push his flop show...and couldn't wait to do so...the truth was by 75 few people were interested in Crosby...his fan base came from the 40's and 50's...unlike Sinatra who at 60 was and would be selling more concert tickets for the next 15 years than all but a few...

He told me before this live show that he needed my help cause tickets were not selling..I saw it night before, he was terrific as was Rosie Clooney and Joe Bushkin...

Der Bingle was born in Washington State. I think you were thinking of Bob Hope. Bob, was a patriotic person, who adopted America. Or, America adopted him.
