Consider his competition {this was scheduled on Mondays at 9:30pm(et), right after George Burns' "WENDY AND ME"}: the second half of "THE ANDY WILLIAMS SHOW" on NBC....and 'MANY HAPPY RETURNS" on CBS [it also got the axe after one season]. Besides, Bing wasn't *that* eager to commit himself to appearing on a weekly half-hour sitcom in the first place. Whatever enthusiasm he had for the series just about evaporated by the time it ended- and he was glad it was over. He preferred his occasional appearances on "THE HOLLYWOOD PALACE".

ABC probably didn't want to pony up for color. You'll see the same B&W on old eps of "Ben Casey".

They did telecast TWO color series in prime-time during the 1964-'65 season: "JONNY QUEST" and "THE FLINTSTONES".....and an occasional color feature on "THE SUNDAY NIGHT MOVIE". However, except for those- and a few color cartoons on Saturday and Sunday mornings- ABC just didn't have the financial and technical resources to colorcast more programs until the fall of 1965 (and even then, they could only afford to schedule about half of their prime-time programming in color).

Probably was, because Desilu's facilities were originally RKO-Radio's soundstages (until the fall of '57).
