What’s happening in this World War Z clip?
After his plane gets infested with zombies, Gerry (Brad Pitt) has to use a grenade to rupture the cabine and eject the assailants. Unfortunately, the explosion also causes the plane to crash.

What’s World War Z about?
Former United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt), his wife (Mireille Enos) and their two children enjoy a normal day together when they witness the outbreak of a massive zombie attack on Philadelphia. After escaping the panic stampede generated by the attack, the Lanes take refuge in an apartment complex in Newark. They then receive the help of Gerry’s old friend, deputy Secretary-General Thierry Umutoni (Fana Mokoena) who sends a helicopter to rescue them and put them in safety with another family. However, their rest doesn’t last as the place is soon being attacked by zombies. After joining their building’s roof, the Lanes are saved by a helicopter that takes them to a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier off the coast of New York City with a whole group of other refugees. On board, a team of scientists and military personnel are analyzing the scope of the worldwide outbreak. A virologist, Dr. Andrew Fassbach (Elyes Gabel), argues that the plague is a virus, whose origin must be found in order for a vaccine to be developed. Because of his expertise as a former UN investigator, Gerry is tasked with helping Fassbach find the outbreak's source.

Yes you shouldn’t take it out by yourself, but still try to find a professional to perform a surgery and take that object out before the wound infects.

@@Vhailor_Mithras yeah that’s a good idea. However in this case the plane wasn’t rusted (if we are assuming that the object impaled is a part from the plane) so the risk is already lower but it’s still a good idea to protect yourself from tetanus.

There was a recorded crash almost exactly like this on a runway when a plane once had an engine explode, and in a one in a million chance, all the shrapnel severed all three hydraulic lines at once and left the plane with only manual engine and landing gear controls. Also happened on family discount day. Around 2/3 of passengers lived, crash video is on KZfaq I believe. A lot of the dead were kids, everyone else basically ran out of the plane on impact. Though people in front row seats of the areas that split apart died on impact, so this scene is still super heavy plot armor.

Just in case the discovery channel show "Plane Crash Investigation" does an episode on them, and they find the black box, the investigators will know that the pilots were alive up til the point of impact.

You can search up Black box recordings of real crashes And see that most of The Time pilots dont panic Even though they are clearly doomed. Perhapse its The adrenaline kicking in or they are preoccupied with trying to save The plane

They rarely panic. Maybe agitated, confused, but a fundamental part of their training is "no matter what, keep flying". They'll keep trying until the last second. That's how some miracles have happened, and sadly how others faced their last moments.

@@moteroargentino7944honestly what i find unrealistic about all this is the fact the plane went down in the first place. WWII planes took far more damage than that aircraft and kept on flying. most planes are basically built to have redundant systems to prevent complete control loss in the case of an emergency and that aircraft can fly on one engine.

I really recommend everyone to read the book or to listen to the audiobook. The film is good and I watched it many times, but it takes only a few ideas from the source. A great thing about the book is that it's a collection of many stories so it's easy to read part by part. There are enough ideas to make 10 movies, to say the least. (I just want more people to read it).

The book was fantastic. One of my all time favourite reads. Frankly I think its better suited as an HBO mini-series rather then this film. Its kinda sad but the video game is closer to the book then this rather silly film.

The book is a fantastic read. As much as I enjoy the film I admit to being disappointed when I watched it for the first time. The book is a collection of first hand accounts from survivors of World War Z.

let’s be honest, survival is highly impropable. multiple parts of the plane broke off, there was also an explosion, and it’s a miracle he survived even after he got impaled and almost fell from the seat, meaning it could have got worse. a situation like this would be extremely rare. and before the crash, the amount of air coming in and out from the massive hole in the plane would unpressurize the cabin extremely quick, so they would have altrady passed out or died from a lack of oxygen. i know hollywood standards always make the main character survive, but for a physics guy like me i just had to point this out, sorry

Is there any condition that able to make people not passed out or die from the lack of oxygen in that situation? For example, like someone's body manage to contain enough oxygen in him/her until impact so they not passes out, or maybe cuz of the plane height on flight were getting lower cuz the engine broke causing the oxygen that got in and out is not that much to make someone passes out or something like that??

@@eijilchannel4703 don’t think so. if you see certain videos of pilots taking off their oxygen mask in certain planes (very high speed), they are being told they will die if they don’t put their mask back on

Just to point out... a score for the filmmakers here, depressurization doesn't mean Hollywood suction as we always see. Especially at such a low altitude when the pilots were gearing to land. The oxygen would stabilize after a few minutes at most and life would go on.

Getting impaled isn’t always an immediate death, 😅and doesn’t prevent you from walking although it would be horribly painful. The least realistic things about this scene are that he A: survived that crash, and B: his hair is still neatly tucked behind his ear after the impact.😅

At least Brad Pitt is smart here. If you get impaled by a sharp object, the last thing you should ever do is try to pull it out. It may seem like that’s the logical option but what you got stabbed with is what’s stopping you from bleeding out and dying. So it’s actually better to leave it in.

the most unrealistic part about this is the fact the plane crashed in the first place. a grenade isn’t enough to take down the aircraft and the hole it blew shoulda been smaller.
