Not surprised all the expats been interviewed tell how beautiful the place and the lifestyle are in Benidorm. Furthermore there are thousands of even more attractive and still affordable places where one can start a new life in Spain, especially if you are to make a comparison with England. Lately the Country has turned into a miserable, unlivable, unsafe expensive nightmare. Unless you are loaded and can afford the picturesque countryside villages and well kept towns, the services and opportunities on offer elsewhere up and down the Country are not satisfactory. Those who can afford it have left the U.K. or are considering moving, primarily to Europe or South East. Asia. In a few words: cheaper, warmer, happier. Just a better life.

The infamous Spanish bureaucracy still alive and kicking. I lived in Spain in the 60s and it was a nightmare. When I returned in the 70s, it was even worse, waiting up to 6 months for a very basic and simple license. I worked in the 80s in Tenerife, and when I left 10 months later to work in The Netherlands those lazy turtles were still busy to get a stamp needed. Nowhere in Europe civil servants are as lazy and slow as in Spain. My advice: if you need a license for 2025, no matter what sort of license, start applying yesterday and be extremely patient. I grew up there, speak fluent Spanish, but that does not help at all.

Thank god you can fast forward 50% of the scenes they showed already in the episodes before. What a scam!

After Brexit, they need to show at least €27,792.96 per year. To start the process of retiring in Spain as a British citizen, you need to apply for a non-lucrative visa. Since you cannot work on this visa - not even remote work- you'll need to show proof of sufficient financial means for your duration of stay. Happy Brexit....
