Binghamton is the county seat of Broome County, and sits at the confluence of the Susquehanna and Chenango Rivers roughly six miles north of the Pennsylvania line in the Southern Tier. It was once a major city in New York, but now is the 14th biggest city, and it clearly has seen better days. It currently is mostly kept afloat by Binghamton University (one of my alma maters) just outside the city. But enjoy this tour all around the city, and judge for yourself!

Although I’ve driven past Binghamton countless times I never saw it up close. Thank you for posting this. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be much to like. Urban renewal and the automobile took their toll and carved up the city. A lot of energy and vision are needed to put Binghamton together again.

It doesn't help that ALL of the footage is on dreary, cloudy, winter days - even the prettiest city would look crappy framed in this way

Thanks for posting. I graduated in 2003. Saw my fraternity house on Washington St and a few other old haunts. Looks the same for the most part. Many fond memories. I plan to go back this year for homecoming. 20 years!!

2014 grad. I stayed on campus, but worked in the tall church downtown for three years, and the opera company while there. I visit the city once a year though!

On my last day of working there, I drove home (to a different place) tapping my hands on the steering wheel and keeping time to the beat of Zip-a-dee doodah.

I'm surprised that you didn't mention SUNY Binghamton. I went there for my graduate degrees. It's a sad town, aside from the University.

It seems that many students crap on Binghamton, even though the University is mainly in Vestal, and they only come to Binghamton to get drunk and be rowdy

And there's what was called BCC when I lived and worked in Binghamton in the 1970s. I got my AAS going part-time there. Been back a few times and still have fond memories of the city/people & now BCC is a four year school. Binghamton has changed for the better in previous years. It has "adapted & overcome " a lot from the past industry/job losses.

@@cleondubois1270I moved away 25 years ago. I still go home occasionally to visit friends and family. I think it's a little better now than it was when I left. Some small businesses have sprung up. They don't fully make up for all the hits the city has taken. But, it's nice to see some signs of life.

Hey man… could you maybe make a video of Bridgeport, Connecticut? In your connecticut video the downtown buildings are now rehabilitated and occupied now along with construction and show footage of Black Rock along Fairfield Ave, the Klein Memeoral Auditorium and mansions along ST. Mary’s, Seaside Park, the Connecticut Beardsley Zoo, after all residents I feel frequent more their neighborhood cordiors than downtown, but check out the Bishops Arcade Mall on Google maps, an 18th century shopping arcade, the architecture of the Barnum Museam and the a little run down Portuguese/Brazilian/Peruvian part of town along Madison Avenue north of North Avenue? Used to be the Little Italy but all the buisnesses moved to the nearby burbs in the past two decades. Bridgeport is not that dangerous, it’s 3rd in the state behind Hartford or New Haven, the sad thing is the best architecture is along Washington Park and East Main Street, which is where violent crime is prevalent during the late hours. Youvcouos drive through it at least check out Washington park on Google maps street view if your willing to go. The Bernhard Arts Hall or something like that of Peair Art Collage facing Seaside Park is a unique 7 story building. Oh and Park Avenue, which the intersection with Fairfield Avenue and State Street is intresting, sadly a little rundown but of great architectural interest. The middle class parts of the city are all suburban like though except for black rock but at least a nature trail through a forest in the north end on Veterans Memorial Park, and then Bridgeport’s Discovery Museam and Planetarium which is interesting architecturally, try google mapping these. But overall, or at least the west portion, you went to Fair Haven in New Haven that’s similar to the West part of the city. Oh and the Long Island Ferry dock near downtown. North Main Street is the suburban big box retail section with a cute clock in the middle of the street on the interaction of Anton Street. Look it up on Google Street view find that intersection (Anton and Main) see if anything interesting worth traveling to see. Bridgeport’s sites you could say are more spread out, instead of around downtown which is improving with construction. Love your content im going over every video! ✌️ PS: the reason for all those empty lots was urban renewal projects that were never built.

Great comment, but you posted this under the Binghamton video in case you weren't aware. I should definitely go back to Bridgeport again and do more exploration there, and we'll see!

It seems that "Explore the Northeast" means to showcase certain parts of the Northeast in biased ways - filming on a dreary, cloudy, winter day would make ANY location look like a place to avoid. You definitely did no favor to the City of Binghamton by posting this poor excuse of cinematography

I thought some of the architecture looked beautiful, though It's hard to judge the character of a city from short footage
