Ted Lasso's optimistic, unflappable energy didn't just win over the hearts of the footballers he coached; this past year, audiences everywhere were swept up in his Kansas City charm. Now his crumbly, buttery shortbread biscuits can win you over no matter what scumbag ex-husband's reputation you seek to sabotage, thanks to this simple-but-loving recipe.

"Fits like whatever the British equivalent of a glove is" Disappointingly Babish, it's a glove. In Scotland shortbread is a traditional first-foot gift (the first person who visits your house after the New Year) and is often made in a round and cut in to triangles called Petticoat Tails.

Of course I subbed the baked sugar in the mix for brown sugar and the Demerara sugar for Mexican sugar (morena, cane sugar that has not been refined, inexpensive and easy to find), also made it in a 9 in cake pan. Everybody watching this video, go watch Ted Lasso. It’s such a great and wholesome show. It’s worth the Apple TV free trial subscription if you don’t wanna pay for another service. It’s worth your time and more!

As soon as I saw the thumbnail with the little rectangles of shortbread I clapped my hands, pointed, and yelled "TED LASSO!" before even seeing the actual title. Now I used to always ask for the Broodwich from ATHF, but now that you've done that, my new request is from my Glee-loving heart... Fondue for Two!

Fun fact. My dad made the recipe for McVities Shortbread Fingers (the one in the tartan packaging) The wrapper used to say it was made from a traditional old recipe from a monastery, but that's a load of bull. It was my dad working in a United Biscuits technology lab in Glasgow (or Edinburgh. It was too long ago for me to remember which and he worked in both). Marketing at its finest lol.
